here are rules for Playing a Monster in my games. obviousely gaing skills and stats are diffrnet than leveling up for Player Characters, for Player Learn throught experiance, mosnters learn new skills and stats by defeating other monters and absorbing their souls.

run down of each stat
Hp(HealthPoints) is a characters ability to withstand damage until they are unconscouse.
Sp(SkillPoint) is a characters ability to use more powerful attacks during combat that have specal effects and higher damage than normale actions.
Lp(LifePoints) once this is reduced to 0 the character ultimatly dies.
Strength, for every point in strength adds +10 damage to Physical attacks(that includes all teh basic stuff like claws, bites ,slams tail attacks and so on. SP attack have a base damage and will be stacked with strength Modifyer.
Endurance , for every point in Endurance adds 50 hp, and grants a +3% chance for resisting a physical status ailment.(physical resist starts at 15%)
Intellegence, for every point in intellegence adds +10 points of damage to SP attacks that deal an additional effect (like stun, poison and so on) this also addes to the duration of the effect on another creature (per 2 poitns in intellegence).
Willpower, for every point in willpower grants a +3% chance for resisting mental status effects(Willpower resist starts at 15%) also adds +5 to SP
Agility, for ever 2 points in agilty will grant an addintioan roll to dodge any attack(normale or SP)
Charisma, for every point in Charima will grant a +3% chance to resist gaze attacks, Charm spells from adventuers and allows monster players to recruit underlings.(Charm starts at 15%)
Skills are seperated in three catigorise,some monster skills use up SP,
Physical ,attacks that deal great damage to other monsters and adventuers( IE Dagger Jaw)
Mental ,spell like abilitys that deal moderate damage and deals a status effect when hit, or heals the monster.considerd to be enegery based attacks (IE Silf shot)
Passive, skills that have either benifical effects(IE Photosynthisis) or harmfull effects throguth indirect means(Fire barrier)
Monster Skills are obtained after killing and absorbing other monster souls. all mosnters have up to 8 skill slots to be filled, once all slots are filled a monster may choose to discard an old skill to replace it with the new skill.
Stats are obtained after defeating and absorbign Adventuer souls, the more adventuers and heros a monster slays the more powerful it can become. in addintion a monsters Rank will increase, makeing it more fearsome and known to adventures who will come in larger numbers to try to distroy the monster. however encounters with adventuers are uncommon.
Heres an example of a 2nd(low level) rank Monster who has slain 20 adventuers and has all 8 skill slots filled.

Endurance 5 ( 15+15= 30% resist Physical status)
Intellegence 4 (+40 to Mental attacks,status effects last 2 rounds)
Willpower 4 (15+12= 27% resist mental Status)
Agility 5 ( +2 reroll to dodge)
Charisma 3 (15+9=24% charm)
Base attacks (+50 Str), Claws 100+str(2), Bite 75+str , Tail slam 200+str.
Skills
Fire gaze 5SP (deals 100+Int damage and causes Burn on target that lasts 2 rounds)
Flame Barrier (constant effect)(Deal 80+int fire damage to target that uses Physical attack)
Flame Fang 3SP (adds an additional 80 points of fire to bite attack)
Flame claw 3SP(adds an addintional 80 points to claw attacks)
Pyrosynthisis (all fire damage dealt to monster is converted to Hp,however makes him weak to water attacks)
Immune to blind
Immune to poision
immune to stone
Balbosis started off as a normale Dire Lizard with one SP attack (Dire fang cost 3 SP that deals normale damage to heavily armored targets) as he evolved he went down a path of distruction seeking out all fire based mosnters to aquire their skills, and when he had every skill he desired, he then went on a rampage to attack villages and towns seeking out adventurers and heros who would then fall under his firery wrath, he soon became widely known as Baldosis the Fire Feind. there is a bounty of 2000 gold ( 2 monster ranks) on his head for any hero who can slay him.
Monster Ranks determine a mosnters reputation and what type of monster it can become.
Ranks can include,Dungeon Bosses, Mid-level Bosses, high-level optional Bosses, Elite Marks, Bountys and so on, it jsut depends on what kind of Monster the Player wants to become.
for every 10 adventuers a monster has slain will add +1 to its rank, for every point in its rank will add +1000 to its Bounty for slaining that monster.
"The Eye Of Daos" are shrines or alters set up by Gifted monsters (monsters able to talk and reason like humans) to aid their non-humanoind brethren who are not gifted.
these alters are found in almost every dungeon a player can explore, however they only appear to monsters and not to humans or other humanoid beings. these shrines are seen as large 6inch Ebony orbs that glow with violet-red energy, surrounded by gold inlay in the shape of an eye around the orb, and then backed by a red stone wheel riveted into a wall or pillar. any monster approching these "Eyes of Daos" are instantly healed and cured outside of battle, monsters may trade offerings (or in game terms Monster tokens) and gifts to the eye to recive specal blessings, these blessings come in a varity of forms.
they include but are not limited to ,
1. extra skill slots (50 tokens)
2. delete useless skills (1 token)
3. upgrade a current skill to its next level(20x 2 per skill level tokens)
4. add specal effects to a current skill(40 tokens)
5. stat points.(50 tokens)
6. temporary boasts to all stats (5 tokens)
7. temporary boasts to all skills (5 tokens)
8. temporary skills and other protective spells (10 tokens each)
9. instantly teleport to a previousely visited dungeon(free)
10. The Gift (able to reason and talk like a human)(100 tokens)
11. Fully heal and remove status effects (free)
12. add LifePoints (100 Tokens)
13. Morph (grants monster the ability to change into a Humanoid version of itself)(100 Tokens)
these are just 10 of the most common (and useful) things a monster may choose from when visiting an "Eye of Daos" shrine. in general a Monster may Ask Daos for anything it desires in exchange for some token of its loyality to the "King of Monsters"
there are three main ways of earning tokens, Playing with monsters of the same type as yours, Tradeing with passive monsters and fighting with aggresive monsters.

"Chain Attacks"
up to 3-5 Sp attacks may be linked into one attack, so long as the character has enough Sp to use, to perform a chain attack the monster must make 3-5 (depending on how many Sp attacks are being used) consecitive sucesses on a D10 roll.
