Well, yesterday was a really crazy day. Right from the start, I'd been sleeping very poorly for two days because my dad was in a lot of pain in one of his legs. The idea was to go to work and get at least some sleep. While I was working, my mom somehow managed to get an appointment for my dad to have tests done right when I was getting off work. So when I got back, I waited for a parking spot—which I never got, by the way—for almost an hour until I saw them walking up to my house. The test resulted in a double thrombosis in my legs, so we had to go to the hospital immediately. And from there, to the hospital served by my dad's health insurance, it's a 3-kilometer drive with horrible traffic, but we got there in no time (insert Daytona USA voice saying "TIME EXTENSION!" here). But, in hospitals, the emergency room is always as slow as a slow snail with arthritis climbing a hill. And it was packed with people, of course. It was Friday. I don't know how many hours we waited there, without eating, of course, so I decided to walk to the nearest store (about a kilometer away) to get at least some sandwiches.
It turns out that during the time I was gone, two thieves broke into my car in the hospital parking lot, which I only found out about two hours later because no one told me anything so I wouldn't worry. Apparently, there are two cars that always hang around the hospital and test drive cars to steal their contents, but just as they opened the left rear door of my car, the hospital employees saw them and called the police (whom I saw crossing toward the hospital as I was returning with the food). So it was quite a commotion that I wasn't there to see, full of police and hospital security, while the thieves who couldn't steal anything escaped. Unless they're into stealing bottles of mineral water, they weren't going to get much out of my car, because the tools and everything else I have were under many of them. I was lucky; at least they were competent thieves and didn't break anything at all. The thing is, after MANY hours of waiting, contrary to our expectations, they didn't admit my dad. Instead, they sent him home and prescribed him medication, which we bought as soon as we arrived because, MIRACULOUSLY, there was a parking space on our way back.
From there, we went to buy the medication and food, because we had NOTHING at home, and finally to sleep. I ate a couple of hours ago, after 29 hours. I was exhausted.
The medication is slowly starting to help my dad, but it's going to take a few days, of course.

You're lucky you got your father to the hospital before the thrombosis could block anything. The meds should start breaking the clots down and his body should eliminate them. A friend went through this about ten years or so ago; I got an eMail from him a few weeks back he's still doing okay.
