Widget cursed; running a second-story job with Thaugra hadn't been his initial plan, but time and debts so often led to bad decisions. In hindsight, the orc fighter was obviously ill-equipped for the sort of stealthy work Widget made his career.
Scrambling over the tiled roof, the kobold skittered to a halt, eyes growing wide in alarm. It wasn't Thaugra's panicked shouts that demanded Widget's attention, nor even the clatter of private guards leaping into action below. Instead, Widget's gaze stopped on a lone human in fine dress, watching from a nearby window. The Duke's newly appointed Thief-Taker calmly stared him down with an icy stoicism. Widget grit his teeth; he and his new adventuring partner had fallen squarely into a trap.
A bit of a style test; a friend suggested that I could use the video game "Tiny Glade" to create detailed backgrounds for paint-overs. Honestly, I'm not sure I want to fall back on it regularly, but it worked to excellent effect here.
