It's nihilistic fap-fodder. Nazi's aren't cool or heroic--not even space nazis. EVERYONE in that game's setting is either a space nazi or a literal baby-eating monster (Except the orks, I guess. They seem to be just having fun. I actually respect that kind of honesty). I don't think that's worth any respect. Having Stalingrad happen every Tuesday gets old REAL fast. Fanaticism is NOT loyalty. It is NOT a trait to admire.
And let's face it; GW can't balance their games. Whomever spends the most money on the newest, most expensive units is almost guaranteed to win most of the time. Most new games these days take pains to not make the same mistakes GW has.
That said, I do love Bloodbowl, and I respect the fact that GW laid the ground work for almost every tabletop wargame that came after.
I just wish they grew out of their emo childishness. 40k is satire. It was always meant to be satire. The game was intended to MOCK fascism.
But the satire fell flat...

I guess this is one way to look at things. But it does feel like you're taking things a *tad* too seriously for a fantasy game. Also, I feel like if you see that fascism in the game as satire, you could inject your own silliness to counteract all of the excess seriousness you feel about the concept. The best thing about fantasy is it IS fantasy; just because it comes with a rule book on stat blocks and such doesn't mean you have to adhere to any other aspect of the game.
Believe me, I take your point.
I had a chaplain I called "The happy painter"-- modeled after Bob Ross.
I had an ironclad dreadnought I called "Timmy".
My Favorite HQ was a master of the forge I called "Bob the Buildernator". I called the chapter "Bob the buildernator and the super-happy-funtime-murderboys".
I take your point.
...But I also got a little sick of hearing so many young children say "Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment".

Alej is always so heartwarming, she tries to avoid mistakes, and even with this new hobby, her patient attention to detail stands out (adorable miniature!)
I find inspiration in her personality, and find her gentle side so endearing, behind the stern business suit.
