“Facial expressions?” That’s not something that can be done easily on a balloon.
Also, Roko was asking Brand to forgive him, so it’s not entirely clear if he was seeing a hallucination, memory or Suzocon’s mirror loop muddled his “mind” enough so he doesn’t realise that the “Brand” there is Saida.
That may have been Suzocon’s goal: speed Roko’s spirit to the point where his mind and spirit couldn’t reconnect. So even though he ran “into” his balloon body and has stopped, he’s probably still disoriented while his mind is trying to catch up.

Yeah they're setting it up to make it seem like he's damaged now but I think he's just stunned about to clear up, but yeah, given what we saw in the last page there's no telling what that poor boy will be like for a while
Yeah, hearing what Suzocon was doing to him, I just felt so bad for poor Roko knowing he was having to endure it for as long as he did while everything else was taking place... Fortunately he couldn't have been for too long, certainly not as long as he intended, but still, it's sure to mess him up on some level...

Not really. From what was described the mana leaves the body with the existing thought process at the moment of death. Roko had all his life experience and memories, which is what made him unique. That mana entity would roam around and start to devour mana from the environment, plants and eventually animals, to sustain its existence. So the mana 'ghost' will dissipate over time, but we don't know how long that'll take. But Suzocon had lots of mana so maybe he'd haunt the place for centuries, but eventually he'll be gone.
It could also be that this all works different for youkai than for ordinary mortal beings. Kitsune are connected to the spirit world to begin with and for the zenko, their ultimate destiny is to become kami, to become gods in their own right. And Suzokon-kyo is showing exactly why the yako-kitsune weren't allowed within 10,000 years of godhood by O-Inari.
Somewhat happened to Roko. It didn't seem like he was destined for godhood. Sounds like you have to work at it. I would guess that Suzocon would just be a bigger mana ghost than Roko was, but essentially the same thing, but maybe without his intellect. Having died normally and not soul ripped by a faux eyestone.
He might be. He started out like a yako but not a particularly evil one, just rogueish. But as time went on he's been more and more becoming their guardians. He sacrificed everything to protect Saida and Brand from a monster. This is obviously Virmir's world with its own mythology. But I do know one thing.
Roko is a zenko-kitsune now. And by the Goddess of Foxes, O-Inari, that makes him ultimately eligible to join the kami. Wouldn't that be a fine irony? That Suzocon is forever denied the mandate of heaven, but Roko is welcomed?
