A work-in-progress for my cover of "Ruler of Everything" by Tally Hall from their debut album Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum. It's one of my favorite songs, and though I'll never do it justice, it's fun to try and imitate it by ear... since I can't read music. But such a challenge is always enjoyable.
Basically, Joe Hawley is a god among men, with good looks, a killer voice, and clever lyrics. This song in particular combines magical melodies with a Beatles-esque "I Am The Walrus" flair. Marvelous!
I really recommend listening to this song; the music video is available on YouTube (even though the video is odd and a bit confusing), and you'll hear just how odd my cover sounds compared to the real thing.

Always nice to find a fellow Tally Hall fan. C:
Of course, it took a few days for my order to get to me, but I was so desperate to hear the album version of "Hymn for a Scarecrow" that I broke down and bought the song on iTunes...
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM WHEN THEY COME TO HOUSTON <333 I saw them last year (about a month after I became a real fan, actually), but I was heartbroken to see that Joe wasn't on tour with them. But he is this year, so he will not escape me this time!
For this tour, they've got a sort of contest where they'll pick one person per concert to come on stage and play with them using a "theremin", which looks and sounds like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJYho56INKU
I really hope that I win. It's random, but still... fingers crossed!
I liked it to an extent.
