"Let me show you a little trick."
The demon planted his foot — paw — on her chest and, pulling something from inside his coat, began quickly and precisely drawing symbols on the floor around Alyx.
A sharp agony pierced her body, like someone was trying to tear her heart out alive. She gasped, paralyzed by the shock, unable to understand what was happening — or what he was doing.
But Lea, at that moment, felt something even worse — an unimaginable pain. It felt like every single cell of her body was screaming for help.
Lifting their shared face with difficulty, they both saw that Lea was being forced into her human form, expelling Alyx from the body. That meant she would become vulnerable — easy to kill.
The demon’s grin widened, even though his bone structure barely allowed for it.
"You thought right. We’ve found a way to force you out of your… hosts," he spat the last word in her face with disgust.
Alyx writhed on the floor in agony. Neither of them could tell who was in control anymore — or if they shared it. But they both knew: they had only seconds left.
Alyx, with her centuries of experience, pulled her will together. Detaching herself from the pain just enough — making sure the demon wouldn’t catch on to her intentions — she tensed.
His foot was still pressing against her chest, keeping her pinned within the rune circle.
She pulled in her still-transformed legs — her paws — and in one brief movement, lifted her hips just enough to reposition them slightly to the side.
Then, using her powerful legs as levers, she struck him in the chest with all the fury the pain had awakened in her.
The blow was devastating — her limbs were long and strong in this form — and the demon had no time to react. He shot across the room like a bullet and, by sheer luck, smashed through the window frame and flew out into the street.
