Michael and I were ready to move forward to escape Thunder Science. But there was a problem
It was another fork in the road, and this time there were three doors in front of us instead of two.
It was difficult to figure out which one to go through since Michael and I have no idea what's on the other side.
We don't know if it might lead to the exit or just be some kind of trap or dead end.
“Which one do you think we should go through Andrew?” Michael asked while turning his head.
I was about to reply, but, of course, someone had to interrupt me.
“Well, well, well, what do we have here? It seems that you're confused on where to go next, failed experiment.” Dr. K said.
Michael got annoyed and said “Oh great, not you again!”
“Oh that's cute. Did You really miss me that much?” Dr. K said in an annoyingly delightful sounding voice.
Michael then got really angry and yelled, “I, AM, NOT, CUTE!!!”
Now this is just great. Dr. K really got under my brother's skin this time by saying that he is cute.
I never understand why he doesn't like being called that, but he always seems to be very angry every time he hears the phrase “you're cute”, which is kind of funny to be honest.
“Then you're adorable, and you'll be even more adorable if you transfer yourself into a fluffy creature.” Dr. K said in a calm and pleased voice.
I signed and said. “You know that I'm not going to let that happen to him. What are you hoping to achieve by taking away the only family that I have left?”
“That is a very good question failed experiment. Unfortunately I will not answer at this time, I don't think you're ready to handle the horrible truth.” Dr. K replied.
You gotta be kidding me, I am tired of this guy holding secrets from me, secrets that will explain why the world is like this today.
Why are there parasites that look like furries of all things, and most of all why is he doing this!
“I see that you're not very pleased with my comment, failed experiment, you seem to be really curious about everything around you, despite the fact you are a dumb animal. It really disappoints me that you choose a life of-” suddenly Dr. K was interrupted by Michael.
“WILL YOU JUST, GO AWAY ALREADY?!?!” Michael yelled on the top of his lungs.
Dr. K paused for a moment, and then replied, “You know interrupting people is very rude, especially when you interrupt them mid-sentence with your yelling.”
Well Dr. K just said it's kind of ironic.
He said that it's rude to interrupt people while having a conversation or doing anything, meanwhile, he does exactly that to me and Michael.
Dr. K, and Michael continued to argue, Michael was yelling at the top of his lungs while Dr. K was talking to him in a calm, but sarcastic voice.
If Michael continues to argue with Dr. K, we won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Looks like Dr. K had a plan to stall our progress forward, with his annoying monologuing.
Speaking of Dr. K's monologue, he was really going all out.
He's said that our efforts to escape the facility are futile in the grand scheme of things, and Michael will inevitably be transferred.
Good grief, what a load of bullcrap!
Michael and I made it this far, it is proof that he is wrong about our efforts to escape are meaningless, not to mention there were others that escaped this place before.
It just makes me want to punch him in the face!
Unfortunately, he is wise enough to speak to us from afar by using the announcement speakers.
I looked at Michael, it seemed that he started to cry.
Looks like Dr. K is trying to mentally break him down, and unfortunately it's working.
Darn, I was too lost in thought that I completely ignored how Michael was feeling about what Dr. K was saying.
So of course I intervened by saying “I think we heard enough of your stupid monologue Dr. K.”
I then proceeded to use pyrokinesis on the announcement speaker and security camera to finally shut him up.
Both the speaker and the security camera burst into dazzling flames.
I then turned towards Michael, he was on his knees.
I sat down next to him and asked, “Are you ok?”
Michael then looked up to me and answered, “No, I’m not…”
“Do you want to talk about it?” I asked.
Michael paused for a moment and then replied, “Do we actually know what we're going to do once we get out of here?”
I paused, it never occurred to me since I was so focused on getting out of Thunder Science, I have forgotten that the world looked like a wasteland outside.
How are you going to find food? How are we going to find water?
Shelter is already taken care of since we live in an urban area but, me and Michael are just kids.
I know I'ved learned some survival skills from my time here, but Michael might be a different story…
“... To be honest I have no idea, but I'm certain that we'll be able to figure out something.” I answered.
Unfortunately, Michael didn't seem convinced.
I then placed my hand on his shoulder and said, “Look, I am well aware that you don't have any survival skills.
But I can help you with that and besides, my sensitive nose will be able to sniff out the sources of actual food and water, not some kind of mimicry from a latex beast.
And if we have trouble with the aliens out there, then I'll use my hearing to know when they're coming for us.”
“... I hope you're right Andrew, I really hope that you're right.” Michael replied.
But there weren't just aliens out there, there was something else, something evil. Something that cannot be reasoned with.
Unfortunately, I didn't know that at the time.
It was really difficult to figure out how to move forward from the room that we were in.
So we randomly chose the door to our left and hoped for the best as we entered into the next room.
This room seemed to be some kind of big hallway that was filled with water and it looks like there's some seaweed growing under the surface too.
But that's not the only thing that was unique about this room.
There was a glass wall, that had fast moving water in it.
There were also some air tanks floating on the surface of the running water.
They were also moving at a very high speed.
But the most notable thing was, drawings.
There were drawings on a biohazard warning sign, wooden crates floating in the water and even on some of the concrete walls.
Unfortunately, we weren't able to look at them because someone, had to complain about something that I broke.
“This is the second time that you did this today, failed experiment. And once again you gave me a long list of maintenance work to do.” Dr. K complained while doing a sarcastic slow clap.
Me and Michael got annoyed and we were about to say something, buuuuut… you guessed it!
Dr. K interrupted us.
“Sorry but I don't have time to argue right now, but there is someone that I want to introduce you to, and I'm very sure that you're going to have lots of fun together.” Dr. K said in a calm but ominous sounding voice.
Suddenly a large object emerged from the water!
It looked like some kind of boat that was crudely put together with cables and some kind of glue.
The boat in question was made of the following items: wooden boxes, two air tanks on each side, some chairs and wooden slabs, and pieces of paper that were taped together for a sale.
Smaller boats of a similar design also emerged from the water.
The latex creature piloting these odd looking vessels was some kind of white squid mixed with a dog, and of course it's an anthropomorphic humanoid. Good grief.
"As you can see failed experiment, these specimens in particular are intelligent enough to use tools, and it appears that they made their own little navy. They will be quite the challenge for you two to get past." Dr. K explained in a calm but, serious tone of voice.
I was about to say something to Dr. K but unfortunately he turned off the announcement speaker before I was able to say anything. Darn.
Michael and I then tried to go back through the doors that we came.
Unfortunately, thay were locked.
We then looked back towards the other side of the room, the squid dogs seemed to be smiling with malicious intent.
It was obvious that they are no different from the other latex creatures we've previously encountered.
Meanwhile, in the background there was a radio making noises that sound like ocean waves in a storm.
"Do we really, have to fight these guys?" Michael asked in an annoyed tone of voice.
"By the looks of things, yes unfortunately." I answered.
"Man, how are we going to take these guys out?" Michael asked out of frustration.
"Good question." I replied.
I then started to think about how we're going to tackle this problem.
"If we're trying to fight them while in the water, squid dogs will easily be able to overwhelm us due to semi-aquatic phenotype.
I'm not much of a good swimmer thanks to my fur, I won't be able to keep up with them.
Using the extremely sour orange has some kind of repellent again is not going to work, because most of them are above water." I said out loud to let Michael know what I'm thinking.
I continued to think about how are we going to get past these guys, until Michael asked "Couldn't you just hit them, with your pokémon moves?"
"I never try to hit something that far before, but it's worth a try." I answered.
I then attempted to hit what the boats with Pyrokinesis, unfortunately the fireball missed and hit the water creating a big puff of steam.
I then tried again with Psychic Frost, but unfortunately missed again, the attack made a very small iceberg that was in the way of the boats.
Looks like I'm not really good at hitting things from a distance with these powers. How annoying.
"Well, at least one good thing came out of this." Michael commented.
I then look back towards the iceberg, It seems to be holding. It's definitely going to buy us some time to figure out an attack plan.
Little did we know, some of them went underwater.
"That's one way to put it but, I also just blocked our only way forward by accident." I replied with a little bit of annoyance in my voice.
"Don't tell me that we have to get rid of the only thing that is slowing down th-." Michael then paused mid-sentence.
Worried, I then asked "Are you ok, Michael?"
Michael then looked at me and said while pointing to the pool in front of us "Something is, moving, down there..."
I then said "Wait, what?! How are they able to get past the Small iceberg? It's practically touching the walls and ceiling of this pool, how could they-"
I then remember a silly thing about the icebergs, the bigger they are on the surface, the smaller they are underwater, that means...
Then suddenly out of nowhere, a huge white tentacle with a dog paw on it attempted to grab Michael.
I immediately use Psychic Frost on the tentacle, the frozen tentacle of the squid dog innately broke off from its own weight.
The squid dog then shrieked out of pain as it escaped back into the depths of the pool.
Then suddenly, the iceberg that I made began to crack to a rhythmic pattern of hammers on the other side.
"I guess, the iceberg is not slowing them down after all..." Michael said with a worried look on his face.
I was about to say something but then, suddenly out of the pool.
Some gas tank shot out of the water like some kind of missile.
I was barely able to dodge it in time.
"Crap! These things have already backed us up into a corner!" I said while looking down at the pool.
There was some seaweed and that's coming up to the surface of the water and past that where the squid dogs with piles of air tanks that they're holding down with their tentacles and four arms.
Then suddenly the iceberg that I made, finally broke into ice chunks allowing the armada of squid dogs to go through.
"Oh no, w-what should we do?!" Michael anxiously asked.
I paused for a moment, and then replied "To be honest Michael, I have no idea. But we can't just stand here and do nothing!" I replied while getting ready to jump into the pool.
Michael was about to say something but I then interrupted him and said "I'm well aware that these guys can easily outswim me, but I don't see any other option. I just hope that I will get close enough to get a better shot at their boats."
I then jumped into the waterwith a big splash, the seaweed felt really weird against my fur.
Then I noticed that something was following me. It was Michael. He was coming with me!!!
Crap! I forgot to communicate that if he comes in the water with me, he'll be in great danger of getting transferred.
"Michael!" I yelled. "Get back to-" Then suddenly a large amount of white tentacles shot out of the water making it impossible to get out of the pool.
Suddenly I started to have some kind of extreme anxious feeling bubble up inside me.
I was about to say something to him, but then I felt something grabbing my leg!
It was a squid dog trying to drown me, I attempted to shake them off but, I could barely keep my head above water.
Michael seems to have a terrified look in his eyes. He wanted to help but he just froze there.
I continue to struggle against the creature, taking big deep breaths of air before it tries to drag me underwater again.
Eventually the squid dog was successful and started dragging me down helplessly underwater.
I try to use Psychic Paralysis on it so I can get away but then, more of them came.
One of them pushed my back throwing off my aim.
Then they all started to grab me and dragged me down even further.
Good grief! These guys are more annoying than the latex snow leopards.
The snow leopards just harassed me to no end, meanwhile these guys are literally trying to kill me!!!
I tried really hard to keep my breath in but, one of them punched me right in the belly which made me lose my air!!!
I made some kind of gargle Yip underwater.
I desperately gasped for some air but, I got a lung full of water instead.
So... this is how it ends huh, almost exactly the way it began, being underwater... in a black void.
I won't be surprised, if the squid dogs are using this opportunity to go transfer my brother while I'm literally drowning like a rat.
I... I really thought, I was going to die... but then I felt a tingling sensation all over my body.
It was like that tingling feeling that you get when you're foot is sleeping.
Then, out of nowhere, a bright flash came followed by a loud crack, and just like that I snapped back to reality.
The squid dogs that were trying to drown me, seemed to be in pure pain, they seem to be electrocuted to the point that they were unable to move.
I was happy that I was no longer being dragged to a watery grave.
Wait a second... How am I still alive?!?!
The very thought made me cough out water.
Then I notice there was some kind of weird air bubble around my head.
I wanted to ponder about how this bubble formed in the first place, by then I heard a struggle on the surface of the water.
It must be Michael struggling against the squid dogs.
I have to help him but how could I do that if I'm stuck underwater, I can't even swim well thanks to this fur all over my body.
There must be some way to get back to the surface.
Then suddenly out of nowhere I felt a rushed of water go all over my body, as if I was floating up to the surface at a terrifying speed.
With a loud splash I have merged from over the depths.
When I got up, I thought Michael was was now one of them. Fortunately, I was wrong.
He was putting up a good fight against the squid dogs that were trying to transfer him and Michael appears to be winning, it didn't take long for him to break free from their tentacles.
I guess he's not as helpless as I thought he was, kind of makes sense.
He was able to get past the first decontamination room without getting transferred, I guess he's that lucky, perhaps a little bit too lucky.
As the fight continues Michael seemed to always know where the squid dogs are, there was one that was camouflaged sneaking behind him and he just swung his knife in the direction behind him and the creature revealed itself as it recoiled back in pain.
Unfortunately, I was so memorized by how my brother knew exactly where the latex beasts are. I was unable to notice that there was a squid dog sneaking up behind me, and of course not to my surprise it tried to drown me again.
Good grief! I can't even have a 5-second break without the one of these creatures trying to kill me!!!
Once again, I struggle against the white tentacles of a squid dog.
I thought it was going to be successful on dragging me underwater, again!
But then out of nowhere I felt that weird tingling sensation again, which was immediately followed by a large shock of electricity towards the squid dog who was attacking me.
The latex beast shrieked in pain as it got paralyzed by the electric shock.
At first I didn't know what happened, but then the name of this new attack finally came to me.
It's called Electrokinesis.
It somehow allows me to create a large current of electricity.
I know that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, so where this large amount of electricity is coming from is beyond me.
Unfortunately, just what I was able to break free from there grip... you guessed it, another squid dog tried to drown me for the third time.
But this time I was ready, I teleported away from the squid dog's grip and then zapped them with Electrokinesis.
The squid dog immediately shrieked in pain from the electrocution that probably paralyzed it in the process.
It felt really satisfying to have a victory against a creature that almost killed me three times!
"Looks like they're not going to try that again." Michael commented.
"Indeed." I replied.
Unfortunately, this victory was short-lived because the squid dogs are now trying to hit us with their makeshift artillery.
Looks like there's not going to be much time for a conversation.
They were using gas tanks as torpedoes and there were creatures that were riding those "torpedoes" thay were squid dog cubs.
Good grief, they're using their own young as ammunition, why are these creatures obsessed with child abuse?!
The gas tank torpedoes were moving towards us as a terrifying speed, I was only able to barely dodged one and redirect it by hitting it with my loose pipe.
The gas tank made a satisfying metallic clank, as it zooms towards the wall turning the squid dog cub into a mess upon impact.
I tried to intercept the other torpedoes unfortunately I wasn't fast enough even with teleportation.
Once the squid dog cubs got to their destination, they jumped off their "torpedoes" and proceeded to swim towards Michael.
But fortunately, Michael was able to fend off the squid dog's offspring, by forcing some extremely sour oranges in their mouths.
The citrus orange was too much for a small cub to handle, that they just simply, fainted.
Then the next wave came in, this time there were floating chests filled with rubber shorts with a squid dog in it.
The creature seems to be utilizing the shorts as makeshift ammunition.
I learned that the hard way, because it was able to have a lucky shot right on my mask and that hurts a lot, It felt like a oversized rubber band that's been slapped onto your face.
I struggle to get it off and once I finally did then proceeded to use Electrokinesis on the attacker.
Unfortunately, I missed, darn.
It was really annoying, but it kind of makes sense.
It requires a tons of energy to be built up for lightning to strike the ground, so it would require a lot of energy for me to zap Electrokinesis from a distance.
And as if things weren't bad enough, it appears that the squid dogs are able to train seagulls, to do their bidding.
Of course, these seagulls are just a latex creatures mimicking them but, these things are just as annoying as the real deal.
You see one of these seagulls tried to get rid of one of the last pieces of dignity that I have, it tried to destroy my shorts!!!
Eventually, I was able to fight it off by using Psychic Paralysis and punching it in the beak.
The squid dogs then prepare another barrage of gas tank torpedoes.
This time this time they were aiming directly at me!
I got my loose pipe ready to parry the projectile, but unfortunately a squid dog then shot another pair of short at my mask!
I struggled to get a pair of shorts off of my head, once I finally did, I had little to no time to react to the torpedoes.
Fortunately they missed my mask, but they did have direct hit right on my chest, that it knocked the wind out of me.
Then, for some reason my arms were moving in a very strange way, and every time they move something crashes against the wall.
And I was feeling something going inside me... I don't know how to describe it.
Once I was able to catch my breath, I saw something absolutely astounding!
Somehow I gained the ability to manipulate objects of my mind.
... And It looks like I was absorbing one of the squid dog cups.
My head was spinning with the concept that I can absorb these creatures, but that's not the only strange thing.
Apparently I got a new ability from it too, because I noticed that I had more than one tail, five to be exact.
These new appendages weren't acting like normal tales either, I was able to grab objects with them.
But now that I think about it, we humans did evolve from an ancient ape and that ancient ape evolved from an ancient monkey.
Looks like I still have some genetic memory of that... cool.
It appears that the squid dogs were kind of confused and shocked about what they just witnessed.
A perfect opportunity, utilizing my knowledge of physics and a new object manipulation ability, I use my psychokinetic ability to grab some small bubbles of water and throw them at a very high speed.
These water projectiles hit the boats of the squid dogs like a bunch of rocks punching holes in some of their boats in the process.
I then remembered that Michael wants to help me out if we were engaging in combat against latex beasts.
I then jumped out of the water and used Psychic Frost to make some kind of ice surfboard.
I then use three, of my extra tails to cling on to the ice surfboard, and my special padding on my feed that would prevent me from slipping off.
I then turned towards the big glass window, there were gas tanks that can be utilized as torpedoes were moving on top of fast moving water.
By simply just staring at the window I shattered it into pieces making it easy for me to move the gas tanks from there, to Michael.
Michael seemed to immediately know what to do next. He then proceeded to stab one of the gas tanks with his makeshift knife.
Then gas tank flew out towards a squid dog that was trying to sneak up on my brother.
Due to the high service area of the projectile it knocked back the squid dog with tremendous force.
Through this collaborative effort between me and Michael we fought against wave after wave of squid dogs.
I utilize my gravity controlling skills, if you can call it that, to fight against the entire armada.
I picked up one of the chest filled with shorts and and threw it at one of their cardboard boat.
The impact destroyed the boat entirely, and the big splash that came after through off the balance squid dogs on the big ship.
Meanwhile, Michael is getting the squid dog that I missed, even though he might run out of ammunition soon, but I usually know that when that happens.
I don't know how, but it's like he is my his mind is commuting to mine to reload the ammunition for him... weird.
That doesn't mean I can read his mind, I just have this gut feeling that I know that he needs more her gas tanks to use as torpedoes.
Eventually, after what felt like endless waves of squid dogs, the only thing left I was blocking our path was their big ship.
Man, it was really hard to take it out, the squid dogs then decided to utilize thar ink to temporarily blind me, and every time we damage their boats, they proceed to repair it with terrifying efficiency.
Yash, I can still feel the sting of the ink on my eyes while riding this.
Not to mention that every time I use Pyrokinesis on it, they use a CO2-based fire extinguisher to put it out before it gets too hot that not even water can put it out.
It was only through Electrokinesis in combination with a correct aim from Michael with the gas tanks, that we were able to finally sink their boat.
Speaking of which, when we were trying to dismantle that makeshift boat, it was just slowly creeping its way towards Michael, with every inch that that it moved the more anxiety I had.
I was afraid that they were going to grab him and drag him on board, but then, we finally triumphed!
With the path cleared, we finally went to the other side of the room.
We turned off the radio that was making the ocean noises and next to it was a piece of broken glass.
I looked at it, and saw my own reflection, not so much so that it gave me a panic attack but... When I look at it I saw a face of complete stranger, I know it's me but... I never really took the time to go look at, what I look like.
As I expected, I look like some kind of furry, just like the first time I saw my reflection at the library.
But how am I still me... I'm very thankful that I'm alive and well and that I am still all of me, I think... but how...?
Of course someone interrupted my thought.
"Well done. You have truly exceeded some of my expectations failed experiment! Though I was surprised that the squid dogs were so violent against you, they're not usually like this..." Dr. K said in a delighted kind of voice.
"Oh great! It's you again!" Michael said in a loud and sarcastic voice.
I sighed and said it in a slightly annoyed voice "What do you want now? Let me guess that there's going to be more of your experiments ahead for your test subjects to go through."
"Not entirely, You're getting very close to your goal, you're practically halfway there, and fighting against the horde of intelligent latex beasts is no easy task, especially when they're being very, hostile.
I think a reward is in order, don't you think?"
Oh no, whatever he has in mind is not going to be pleasant, not to mention that he has a whole heel turn in his personality.
He's definitely planning something.
"We're not interested in in any reward that you have other than our own freedom from this heck hole!" Michael yelled at the camera.
"Nonsense, after all you do want to know information that can help you correct?" Dr. K said.
Michael and I paused, then after a while we where about to reply but then, of course Dr. K interrupted us.
"You don't need to answer, you're awkward silence says it all.
Proceed to the room behind the curtains on your left.
There should be a voice recording containing some information regarding your kidnappers."
When I heard this my eyes were wide open and my ears faced forward out of curiosity.
I failed to notice that my extra tails kind of mushed together back into one, It's kind of weird how that works.
Michael and I then proceeded to walk through with the curtain, knowing very well that this might be a trap.
End of part 8.
