Commission - Guardian of the Shrine
Commission for Kevin of his beautiful kitsune character (he's male, by the way) - the background started much simpler, but he kept requesting more and more touches, and by the end, I'm really glad for them all <3

Details do a lot!
For me, my eyes are drawn to the face of course, details in there, the fur, hair~
Then I notice petals as you said and the blue fire leading to the shrine. Cracks in the ground also tell a story, making it feel like the shrine has been there for a long time and this kitsune guardian is probably one of the multiple generations of guardians who were protecting this place <3

Yeah - at first, I was hesitant about adding too much moss to the pathway because it struck me that this place would be well-cared for but, as you said, also perhaps quite old. I was worried adding "too much moss" could give it a kind of "ruined/abandoned" look if I did it wrong, but if anything I think I maybe could have added more ^^; haha
Hmm, I think it is perfect this way, when i take into consideration what you said "this place would be well-cared for", it makes sense to me. Too much moss could give it more of an abandoned feel. While none would make me feel like this shrine is pretty new.
This way, it feels generations old (which I think is positive, making it more mystical, magical x3). It is well-cared for, but no amount of care will stop time, fix all the cracks and clean all the moss that will keep creeping up~ I like it!
