“Jazel, babe, listen-” Shaid started as we walked into the abode Jazel/Scarlet Blades, Vengy, and him/Night Shade shared. But before he could say another word, a glimmer of red light at the end of the hall caught his attention, and he had to meep and fall into the nearby shadow of the doorway as a blade sank hilt deep into the floor he just fell into.
“The news, really? And not only that, I see you decided to ‘chum it up’ with a random hussy bun? Shotbun if I’m not mistaken, an apt name if I had to guess your relations.” Jazel shouted at him, the shark having yet to move from her chair in the living room area, but her eyes fixated directly on Shaid/Night Shade within the shadows. Said eyes and her red markings glowing a FIERCE shade of crimson, her powers in full effect as she ‘calmly’ seemed to be pulling out her second spare blade.
“Waiiiitt waiiit I can explainnnn!” Shaid whined, meeping as the sword dug itself directly into the wall on top of him, the soft receding red glow from its blade causing a slight burning sensation against his form as he waited for it to subside before pulling himself out from under it within the shadow. “I was just doing my rounds, and saw a lot of commotion! There were a lot of news stations, and I thought to check it out! Maybe it was a robbery or fire or something! Turns out they were doing a sort of photo op with as many of the super heroes of the city as they could manage, but I didn’t notice that until I’d already walked onto the scene!”
“Mhmmmmmm” Jazel nodded sarcastically, now finally getting up from her chair as she made her way slowly from her chair. She pulled the blade out from the floor first, examining it, before closing the door, removing the shadow as Shaid fell out of it and flailed, rolling onto his back on the floor.
“I swear that was all it was! And before I could leave again that bun grabbed me! You must have seen her arm around my shoulder, she had me in her grip like a vice, saying I needed to ‘be a part of this!’ And all the flood lights and flashing cameras, I couldn’t exactly hide back in any shadows, there were none!”
“Riggghhtt.” Jazel nodded, again, pulling out the other sword and examining it from where Shaid fell out from. She then calmly walked up to his fetal form, blades pointed toward him, as he meeped, pushing himself back into the corner, unable to find any shadow big enough for purchase as her red glowing form advanced on him.
“It’s the truth I swearrrr! I’d never met her before in my life! And I didn’t mean to show off your ‘new suit’ too earlyyyy! I just got swept up in it all!”
“Rigghht right, that’s why you posed so 'courageously' and seemed so in your element.” Jazel stated, blade now inches away from Shaid’s muzzle as he whined and held up his hands.
“She told me if I made her look bad she’d show me why ‘shot’ was in her name! What else was I supposed to dooo?!?” He whined, the blade now tickling his nose. “Pleassse I got out of there as soon as I could, but they’d already gotten all the footage they neeedeedd! Pleahhahahahsse!”
Jazel sat there holding the blade for several moments, glaring down at him with intense vitriol, before in what felt like the blink of an eye, she dropped all of it. Her expression returned to a neutral one, she gave a nod, and pulled her blade away as she walked back to the living room to sheath her back up blades back where she’d gotten them from.
“Ok, makes sense. Just try and be more careful next time, now I gotta work double time on making that armor actually more than metal paper weights.” Jazel muttered, Shaid meeping a bit, but staring up at her from the corner of the entryway.
“S-so you’re not mad?”
“No, should I be?” Jazel asked, turning her head back to look at him. “I thought the whole point of that was you trying to make me not mad?”
“No no, yes, yeah that’s right!” Shaid nodded vigorously “You where just so angry just there-”
“Ohh that?” Jazel asked. “Yeah I was just practicing, you know how bad I am with a lot of emotions. I wanted to get some training in actually intimidating someone despite not really feeling angry at them, it seems I’m pretty good at it.”
“O-ohh…haha..ha..yeah, yeah you really are!” Shaid meeped, finally allowing himself to get up from his corner as he rubbed the back of his head. “H-happy to help you refine your skills!”
“You always do, dear.” Jazel gave him a grin, a big toothy grin, as she sheathed her last blade with an audible ‘shing!’ into its holster under her chair. Shaid then gulped, before watching Jazel sit back down in it, going back to reading her book, as he muttered a few prairies under his breath and quickly made his way into the other room. The entryway to their ‘secret lab’/base was located within, and he was about to enter it when Jazel followed up with,
“Besides, all of that was live. Your entrance was priceless, you stumbling in from a shadow that a light flowed over and getting pulled up onto your feet by Shotbun and yanked fully into frame. You looked mortified, it was hilarious.” Jazel finished, with Shaid’s entire body relaxing even as he let out a groan.
“You couldn’t have led with that?!?” Shaid whined, with Jazel simply calling back “Trainnninggg!” and Shaid rubbing his temples. He gave a chuckling sigh though, continuing to make his way into their lab to change into more ‘civilian’ garments, as he thought through it all and still came to the same conclusion. He really needed to make sure he didn’t actually piss her off one of these days…He likely wouldn’t live to see the coming dawn, and he very, very much liked seeing the start of new days, a lot more now than ever.

PlanktonHeretic has been working on for AGES ; v ; . I think this piece was intended to be for the 5th anniversary, but then well...it just kept ballooning as people wanted it XD so much to the point that two years passed, and I went from 'not really thinking I should be a part of it due to being new to the 'InFurNiverse'', to going 'ahh what the heck' toward the end and jumping on anyway XD. The full image will be linked as the original below and contain all the lovely people and their respective 'heros', but 'thankfully' for me I got included with a heroine from Plankton themselves! So I only have to reference the original verses someone elses name :3c muwhahaha!
But yeah, originally thought I'd save this until the proper story line of Eria concludes and I post the updated ref for Shaid and Vengy, but as I was writing the rest of these a thought came into my head of a story for this and I just HAD to go for it or risk it taking 40 years before I post it =v=; . So I'm happy I got it down XD a nice fun little back and forth between Jazel and Shaid about her 'not being included', was a lot of fun, and a great way to 'end my writing day' I say. Was good stuff, and this image in general is just incredible, they did a wonderful job and it was awesome 'sneaking in' to be a part of something so massive. Glad to be behind such a lovely looking Bun too :3c feheh, just great stuff all around, and appreciate it lots! ; v ; b . (good to get another image with Shaid in it too XD feheh)

Shaid/Night Shade is mine!
