I’m thinking with that many tooths in a basket, if the bison understand what they are actually for, those wolves that have control of them are going to be in for one hell of a surprise.
On the other hand, if bison are truly stupid, they may not have the brains to figure out what they (the bison) could use them for!

If I am understanding the story so far (properly at least) the wolves and bison in this area have struck a bargain or something of the sort that allows them to coexist but that means suppressing or snuffing out the idea of prey in this universe, smaller animals at least, from arming themselves and rebelling against the predators. (Maybe rebelling is the wrong word lol)
I think there are real life instances where discoveries are made between different civilizations that are extremely similar or identical. Construction techniques are one, agricultural methods another, even mathematics. There is evidence to show that some European discoveries in mathematics were mimic by central American cultures centuries earlier; just never documented by the ancient culture.
Oren learned to make bronze spear points from a mixed tribe of pigs and antelope somewhere far to the south. There's no telling how much more they have. There don't seem to be any other tech tribes nearby, but there is that group of cougars with the really out-of-character practice of imprisoning their prey in a deep pit.
We also already knew that, but it's been a while and plenty of folks seem to have forgotten, so here, I'll dig up some lynx;
