This picture is very special for me, because with this one I´ll show you the redesigns on Shin and mostly Franko appearance and behaviour.
It was totally hard for me to decide to open Franko´s eyes, but it was for necesity, because it was really hard to make another expression than him smiling, and because that way Franko can show realy who he is.
Other point is that Franko now is a kid, I decided to go for that way because I kinda got tired of the adult Franko (but I´ll keep drawing him that way).
But the stronger reason for his overhauling is because I´m working on a future webcomic about him, and the story required me to finally define him. I knew that the happy Franko face won´t work in a narrative point of view, so I decided to make him a more developed personality that could allow me and some of the writers that will work with me, to expose him into different situations that will allow him to react emotionally.
About Shin and Franko, I can only point out that they´re no father and son, nor brother (much less a couple) but their relationship is really strong.
I hope you like the new turning of events I´m giving to my characters, and keep tuned for more news on the future comic.

Adorably cute indeed. And I can see that making Franko more expressive will allow well for good storytelling and characterization.
Also I have to laugh at Shin's expression. He and Franko may be close friends, but right now he seems highly resentful of Franko being so...easily distracted. :P

Cualquier cosa que le hayas hecho a Shin (aunque se le ve igual de fuerte) se eclipsa por los ojos de Franko, lol.
Antes, con un estilo algo menos cartoon (como tu avatar), con el franko adulto con ojos cerrados era increiblemente cute tambien (y bueno, pero claro... si dices que el Franko feliz no encaja en dicha historia...)
En cualquier caso grande por no olvidarte de ninguna de las dos versiones x)

I've been watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and there's a character in the series drawn with closed eyes; Ling Yao. The animators show him with opened eyes only during situations of intense emotion. Whenever he's calm and unexcited, his eyes are closed. Maybe you could do something similar? Only open Franko's eyes when you need to convey strong emotion? Whatever you do is fine by me, though. I think he's great either way. It was just a thought. Love your lion characters!
Thanks, but I thought about that issue before, but I think it´s too common place, because beside Ling Yao, we have several characters in other anime that have the same characteristic feature, like Chakra from Virgo in Saint Seiya or one of Makoto Shishio subordinates (I forgot his name, but he is always with his eyes closed).
So, in order to avoid that topic, I decided to make him with his eyes open, and when he is happy or whenever he pleases he can close his eyes. Anyway, thanks so much for the help :D
