Not many would be familiar with this character, unless you are from the UK or Australia and watched a lot of British cartoons. Anyway, here is Jane from The Legends of Treasure Island, and one of my headcanons is that her birthday is on August 17th, making her a Leo. Not much is known about her, other than she apparently came from a wealthy family, but was such a brat that when the nefarious pirate Long John Silver kidnapped her and held her for ransom, her family wouldn't pay for her freedom, so he ended up being stuck with her until he took over the Hispaniola and captured the crew including Jim Hawkins, Captain Smollett, Dr. Livesey, and Squire Trelawney. Jane would then defect from the pirate and join Jim, Captain Smollett, Trelawney, and Livesey on their expedition to search for the treasure that Long John and his partner Pew are hunting for as well, and she and Jim would become very close friends as she was the only one in the crew who is of his age.
I always like this adaptation of the Treasure Island novel since they're all anthropomorphic animals, from Jim, Smollett and Livesey being dogs, Long John and Jane being foxes, and Pew being a rat, just to name a few. Jane is the only character that's been created exclusively for this cartoon, and other than her small backstory, she's quite a headstrong tomboyish girl, though she does find herself in tricky situations to which Jim would often come to her rescue. Nevertheless, there had been a few instances where she would strike out on her own, or prove herself to be a capable hero in her own right, but I won't mention any spoilers for those who haven't seen the cartoon and wanted to check it out. It's definitely worth a watch if you love swashbuckler adventures with sea voyages, treasure hunts, pirates, and anthropomorphic animals mixed together. The cartoon style has somewhat of a Sonic vibe to it, with some fans even making a crossover interpretation that this show predates the Sonic series, and funny enough, Jane does bear a resemblance to Tails, least the SatAM version, her tomboyish demeanour might even remind those of Sally Acorn, and she even sports a hairdo that looks a lot like D.W.'s from Arthur, so maybe there's a bit of overlapping with that show too. Myself, one of my headcanons, speaking of which, is that Jane is not only an ancestor of Tails, but also a descendant of Robin Hood (funny since she's a fox and wears a green jacket). Another headcanon of mine is that Jane is just her middle name while her actual first name is Margaret, with her full name being Margaret Jane Napper.
Happy Birthday, Jane!
