I have seen people loving his mega like no tomorrow. In my opinion, I didn't like it very much. He looks more like fetish bait from the first seasons of the anime. I remember someone doing a recreation of the mega form and this one has much more potential! I have also loved the potential of the scary video of the reveal, but I see some flaws on it. Other than the bad english VA, I noticed the fact that the flashlight is stuck to the camera, unlike other analog horror videos (Maybe it's because it's a modern recording camera, and the flashlight is already strapped on/fixed to it). And the story was... okay? I wish they were a bunch of teens looking to hang out and make videos in an abandoned building instead of a team of amateur investigators, looking for the one responsible for oozing puddles of corrosive poison.
Anyways, have a Mega Victreebel being called names/praises for his appearance, and his angry look under those voluminous lips, wishing one day for his vengeance (I assume the poison he barfs out can also heavily stain white cotton clothes, rendering it complex to remove.).

Personally, as soon as I saw it's reveal I instantly said to myself "O h n o . . . I know better then to not take this thing seriously because this is gonna be some serious nightmare fuel."
I was right.
But then I saw the freaking video and the disclaimer at the beginning in small subtitles saying NOT ACTUAL GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE, SOME MAY FIND THIS ANIMATION SENSITIVE OR DISTURBING VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED?!?!
"WHAT THE F@#$ ARE THEY ACTUALLY GONNA HAVE A PERSON DIE GETTING MELTED ON SCREEN OR SOME S@#$!? DUDE, WHAT THE F@#$ GAMEFREAK?!" Is legit what I yelled thankfully in the peace and quiet of my own bedroom downstairs away from everyone at home after work that day. I'll admit I definitely overreacted because then the trailer honestly was just . . . kind of a letdown. Yeah, I obviously knew it was freakin Pokemon and another one of their attempts at analog horror but they actually did it well and SO MUCH BETTER WITH THE ULTRA BEASTS IN POKEMON GO but then this kinda honestly got a bit over hyped and trying to be more . . . Clickbait? Edgy? . . . then it actually was. It was fine, don't get me wrong but wow that was honestly underwhelming and I'm a bit disappointed even if it was just okay.
But now the memes.

I asked one of my coworkers what their first thoughts of it were and she said with a grimace on her face "Well . . . looks like Victreebel finally ate James." 😅
I honestly have high hopes for this thing that this will really help it finally shine in competitive play. But again my question remains, if there are no abilities like in legends: Arceus, what will all the Megas who needed them do now and will the new ones just get them in Champions retroactively? Still really excited to visit Kalos again. But Mega Flygon and Mega Jynx NEED TO HAPPEN, C'MON GAMEFREAK!
