I have FINALLY perfected a Hummingbird trap; a vacuum bottle! The Hummer comes down to drink the nectar, triggering the vacuum suction in the bottle and then......ZOOMPH! He is SUCKED into the bottle! (No hummingbirds were harmed [frightened, YES, harmed, NO] in the making of this picture)!

Couldn't it be argued that by frightening the bird, you put unnecessary stress on the creature. And everyone knows that stress can weaken your immune system along with shorten your lifespan. So by frightening the bird aren't you indirectly harming it?

Errrm guys, the Hummer was BEHIND the bottle. He was on the outside! I took the picture through TWO layers of plastic with three ounces of sugar water in between. It is and optical illusion! The bird didn't even know I was there!

To the right of the bottle, you can see the tip of his wing showing PAST the bottle. I do wild bird photography and try to catch unusual poses.

His name is Bubba. He was born in my yard Three years ago and has returned every year, along with his mom, Hummercane Camille, and his sister, Fra Hummer!

Crazy. I remember we got hummingbirds around my house years ago but I haven't ever seen one since. :(

I have THREE Hummers this year, all females. Put out feeders and plant Mimosa trees, and Cannas and they should come.

Thank you! I will be on the lookout for these.
I remember we had a feeder and one did come but.. idk where they went. My uncle who lives in the same city gets them so I don't understand it.
Maybe he's got those plants
