Ron's Gone Wrong's 4th Anniversary
4 years ago, 20th Century Studios and Locksmith Animation dropped an animated film that would become one of my all-time favorites.
Ron's Gone Wrong follows a boy named Barney Pudowski as he obtains a faulty B-Bot named RONB1N5CAT5CO, or Ron for short. While initially annoyed by its faults, he would grow into him and they would soon become best friends.
To be honest, I didn't think much of this movie when I saw the trailer. But then one night it got me to thinking about it and how adorable these B-Bots are, and soon I eventually got to check it out on Disney+ and I enjoyed a lot of it. It's a cute movie with an adorable robot that quite also takes a stand on mega tech corporations (most likely Meta but who knows it could be anything at this point) that I feel like a lot of its callouts have aged incredibly well given the online world today.
Message and Ron aside, you also have some really charming humor as well as animation and art style that reminds me of the 2000s PIxar movies. I loved it, and for a long while Ron would appear in a lot of my drawings on Weasyl.
Thank you Sarah Smith and Jean Phillipe Vine for coming up with such a wonderful and creative film and the people at Locksmith and DNEG for helping out!
Happy 4th Anniversary, Ron's Gone Wrong!
