The village learns that the Medicine Man’s daughter, Zalika, has been transformed into a zebra-headed demigod, sparking fear and violence, leading to a confrontation. Zalika is driven out into the night. With nowhere else to go, the zebra she has been blended with finds solace and belonging in returning to a herd of zebras. Gradually, they lose their sense of self and human identity. The story explores themes of transformation, fear of the unknown, and the search for acceptance.
