so lets talk about Vedrasil!
Now of the Balãr I think Veidrasil has changed the least visually and lorewise, they've been pretty consistent
like I mean, almost 6 years consistent, this drawing is a redraw! here is the original in fact from all those years ago

anywho!
Lets talk about em
Veidrasil: The Yukon Interloper
Veidrasil is known to manifest across the large swaths of Northern Canada all across the Yukon Forests but has been known to manifest as far away as Nunavut, they are known to inhabit a large area and, thankfully for mortals, is seldom seen.
Its far more known to only be seen out of the corners of ones vision as they walk through areas in which it has manifested. General rule is if you start seeing something slithering in the trees of the Boreal... you turn around and walk the other direction... That may not be enough in of itself but its your best chance as if Veidrasil singles. you out... you're screwed, like really screwed
As Veidrasil withstands its drowning in the morii by breaking people
We all got hobbies, Veidrasil's hobby is torturing bodies, minds and souls beyond the ability of those bodies, minds or souls to properly comprehend. As it really loves the points where things really snap. Where the body finally gives out and dies, where the mind breaks, and where the Soul cannot be messed with further until it suffers permanent damage.
It is a cruel bal, crueler than even some of the others such as Shõlresa or Durmin who are also balãr known for callously shattering lives. Now granted their is a lot of intentional and unintentional cruelty towards mortals by the balãr. Either due to indifference or targeted violence. Its not like anything can really stop them save for other balãr and most other balãr aren't really too into the concept of fighting other balãr
Once Veidrasil gets a hold of a victim, regardless of whom that victim is, it's over. They don't care much for negotiation or pleading, they don't try to induct victims into mindwashed cults like Shõlresa nor are they swift like Inul in their killings. They will break down a victim until the point they break to the satisfaction of Veidrasil. If they need to defy reality to do so that is fine. If they need to break them in ways that are biologically impossible that is also fine
But frankly, its not much in the ways of deeper complexity, the Bal was made early on in the lore of Õndem and so it isn't the most complex personality or character. but it is still very canonical and very hostile, but it does at least have some stories due to its age in the lore.
So lets talk about the Stories of Veidrasil
I think first and most important is its part in the Burial of Godomer
In the immediate aftermath of the Pulse additional cataclysms would happen in the plana of Suyu thanks to the brand new freshly sundered balãr.
One of the important ones of this story is Godomer, A bal who was so appalled with the reality they just partially crashed into that they wanted to break the steiron entirely and just be done with the whole matter.
But they were stopped in a vicious battle by three other balãr.. Those being Rodurimer, Rilím, and Veidrasil
Their reason was mostly related to not wanting to damn more raddir into the horrid fate of the physical form.
This fight was pretty cataclysmic, its why central America is an Archipelago and not a single landmass like it used to be. It involved an extremely destructive battle that slammed Godomer into central America, with those Balãr then dragging Godomer across North America before burying it under a rotten slag of broken reality in Montreal... destroying Montreal in the process
After this battle of course Veidrasil would go onto sulk into the Yukon, preferring isolation, it's during this time that it would get a taste for what gave it some sense of peace
torturing mortals of course
But few hundred years later, it would find its perfect torture topic, The Screaming Bell
The Screaming Bell is also an entity tied to the story of GoDomer, so quick on context.
When GoDomer was forming the city state of Montreal, and the Godeaux were rallying around it, there was a nearby Õfuth within Quebec. Jagolmén.
This was a weaker õfuth due to pressure from the neighboring Kor Ãvil but was a big enough deal for GoDomer to intervene directly and, from its buried tomb, it shattered the soul of the Prejag of the Õfuth in one fell scream, breaking its willpower and driving the Prejag mad.
Now this had a lot of other impacts related to Godomer, But with respect to the Prejag it would flee into the 2nd construction and begin manifesting in different areas of the universe.
It would be known as the Screaming Bell
namely because its maddened, mutilated spiritual form would cause apocalyptic levels of reality warping wherever it manifested. It doesn't even attract new sivilão followers to it. rather it just screams.
But Veidrasil quite likes it
It thinks the screaming bell is neat!.. to torture, its pretty messed up
But Veidrasil often spends time hunting for the Screaming Bell wherever it may manifest, essentially to kill it and send it back to the 2nd construction. Less out of the goodness of its heart and more because Veidrasil sees the Screaming Bell as a legitimate challenge.
It can't easily break something that is already so broken and hard to truly kill as The Screaming Bell. So every time it pokes its head out of the 2nd construction, as soon as Veidrasil can figure out where it is, its not too uncommon for Veidrasil to intercept and battle the Screaming Bell
Which, perhaps for the best as otherwise the Screaming Bell could depopulate vast regions of land with its uncontrollable warping of the fabric of reality.
I guess if nothing else its a reminder that the éldimor species are the bottom of the ladder with regardes to the cosmic pecking order of the realm of the quiet age
Sometimes those larger cosmic beings sometimes just wanna bend you until you break... to settle their own aches and pains from their own sunderings wrought by powers yet higher than them.
So yeah
Happy halloween!.. is what I would have said if you read this on Patreon so happy... thanksgiving!
