Cryolophosaurus is a genus of large predatory theropod dinosaurs that lived in the early Jurassic Period (199.3-182.7 million years ago) on the territory of modern Antarctica. It includes one view. The name translates as "frozen lizard with a comb". It reached a length of 7.7 meters and a weight of 780 kilograms. The holotypic specimen was probably a juvenile, so the adults could have been larger. The crest is thought to have been used for social and/or mating displays, or to have been used for recognition of individuals of the same species.
Cryolophosaurus was one of the largest theropods of the Early Jurassic, and was a top predator in its ecosystem.
