«All her life, she strove to become a great actress. Desperate after failing to achieve fame, she sought out a witch to grant her the talent she craved. The witch fulfilled her request, but the price was ruthless: she tore away a part of the girl’s face, replacing the flesh with a shard of a magical mask that drove its jagged edges into the bone and fused with it forever. Her wish came true, crowds roared with applause but the artifact gradually began to cloud her mind. The boundary between performance and reality dissolved. She would swing between bouts of uncontrollable laughter and fits of sobbing, slowly descending into madness.
In battle, her insanity becomes her weapon. When the Smiling Mask connects, the victim’s heart begins to beat with a lethal, hysterical tempo, their lungs seizing in a fit of violent, ecstatic laughter that ruptures internal vessels. When the Weeping Mask lands, the air around the enemy turns into a thick, crushing weight of absolute despair, causing their armour to feel like lead and their very blood to turn cold and sluggish, as if the gravity of every loss they've ever felt is physically crushing their bones»
