Okay first, a little explanation. In The Puppy’s Further Adventures, Tommy’s father was an archaeologist, but in the original ABC Weekend Specials that introduced Petey and his pals – which are also available online – Tommy’s father was a jewel dealer. Maybe the series writers didn’t think that would lead to enough adventure, or maybe they just didn’t know or care about the earlier works.
Me, I couldn’t ignore the continuity error, so I’ve made a minor adjustment to the Further Adventures, which I really don’t think in the long run would make that big an impact on the plotting of the original broadcast episodes or my fanfics. I’ve kept Tommy’s father as a jewel expert, and I made his mother the archaeologist.
