Not so much the beginning of a new era, but a strong shift for this one. However, judging by the broadcast episodes of Further Adventures that took place after this, my guess is the series writers didn’t know what to do with this change. At least half the time, Tommy and his parents were pretty much shoved aside for most of the episode while the dogs went off to do their thing just the same as in the New Adventures. I’m hoping to remedy that in my fanfics.
