Seems I wasn't at the top of my game here. The idea was that the gift can't be seen for the glow of discovery, but everyone who has seen this thinks the box is full of excelsior... Yes, there's still a feeling of discovery as Alf anticipates digging in there to find out what he's received, but it means my 'glow' looks more like hay than light....
