Karla (middle) meet Samantha in group therapy where she yelled and complained about her ex husband, Kirk. She has heard enough to know he became abusive over time and she was rightfully beyond upset.

Unfortunately, Karla's kids went to the same place Kirk's kid went and became friends and over time, so did Karla and Kirk. He's kind to her and her kids and unaware that she already knew about him, or about a past version of him. And she's curious to see how bad he actually was and his side of the story.

Being caught in the middle of not wanting to betray Samantha's trust while genuinely enjoying being with Kirk.
