Creator Notes 1: Setting Up a Main Theme and Purpose
Well, this should be interesting, especially if it still holds up after later sets of notes.
Shortly after I published my previous image, I was looking through my uploads, to see how I could improve, and I have mixed opinions on what I have on my page, so far. I don't find them bad, actually, but there are some things I think I need/needed to address. The 1st image on my main gallery is an alright start. However, I find my digital self's design to be too corporate and lanky (no offense, of course). The image that came after would have been better if there was a greater overall contrast, and the objects were better defined, and while I personally think the 3rd image is an improvement (decent, at least), in hindsight, I should have made the location feel more alive by including a few trees, and a better emphasised sense of direction, for instance. Okay, to be fair, I was figuring some things out when publishing the first 2 images, so maybe, the improvements I made by 'Twisted Path of Many Pillars' were due to having a better understanding of how professional creativity works, and also having a bit less pressure on myself.
Anyway, I was then considering what I could do next. An idea I had for a while was to create some sort of virtual world, and publish a few screenshots, once I had some things that looked good, and had some nice backgrounds to accompany them. However, during my previous attempt, I quickly realised that such would have taken far too long. Plus, the lag was unsurprisingly becoming less and less tolerable, and it was honestly getting a bit tedious constantly creating some new geometry node trees for specific types of objects, anyway. Needless to say, I tried something else, and by 'something else', I mean creating some development images of what I hope to create from start to (hopefully) finish.
I think this direction could turn out to be a great and more manageable way to create something of major scope and of nice quality, while actually keeping my motivation intact, especially with the greatly increased creative control (as opposed to altering a few attributes of a specific type of object) the geometry node tree I've made and used for this project allows for (if I look like I'm bragging, I don't intend to, and I apologise for that). Now, obviously, I don't want to promise anything, but I do hope to create something to remember positively, even if I don't get to show my true full potential. Also, I think it could be kind of refreshing seeing someone talk about, at length, (outside of journal entries (I think)) and showcase parts of a project of theirs on this website, while they're working on said project (By the way, this paragraph slightly reminds me of some of the things I said in my previous image's accompanying wall of text).
So that's pretty much what led me to start this, and I assume you want to read some further information on my project's current state of progress (or maybe not, I wouldn't be surprised either way). Well, I'm not sure if I'll have much to say that hasn't already been said in the image, but I'll try. The intended representation 'non-formulaic' was done because I find the idea of permanent architypes, and being stuck on one path, for life, to be stereotypical, at least bad. As such, the objects I've made so far are meant to have a sense of slight unpredictability in their designs, and also, I think the wing motif helps to emphasise freedom and non-linearity. Now, what else can I say about all of this? Nothing that comes to my mind, except for one more thing, at the moment. After all, I don't want to state anything too obvious, and I think the image speaks for itself. As for that one thing, I might as well briefly mention that I want to make sure at least the majority of objects remain fitting for low stakes scenarios, both in terms of overall shapes and colour schemes. Plus, I prefer digital objects that combine fiction with a bit of believability...
And now, I don't have anything left to say, at the moment, and even if I did, I think this is an ideal time for me to end this entry (Note to self: Maybe from next time, onwards, the creator notes should not to be quite as long as these were. I think everything else turned out nice, though, and I do hope I can keep this project going for a while).
