NOTE: The following is an inspo board of things that inspired my dum dum were-aykroyd stories, the stories are intended to be gross on purpose as they are a parody of weird gain stories and fat fetishism in general put through a Troma lens.
Inspirations:
- Lifeforce. Dum Dum Were-Aykroyds are quite alien compared to most normal Were-aykroyds, and even their reproduction methods are different, where instead of having a female character getting knocked up to have 'baby dum dums', the aura of a dum dum parent is transferred into them or it can be the result of eating dum dum ooze which takes on the form of the 'offspring', aura transfer is one such way.
-Alien. The dum dum birthing scenes are made to be as visceral as possible as a nod to the infamous xenomorph chestburster scene.
- The Substance.
- The Thing.
- The Fly (1986) and David Cronenberg in general.
- Troma.
- Little Britain.
- Freaked.
- Bad Taste.
- 80s horror but specifically the splatter sub-genre and body horror movies like Body Melt.
- Reanimator.
- Nothing But Trouble. 90s and 20000s comedy movies were built different, they were allowed to be as grotesque and gross as possible and as weird as they wanted and this movie was one such movie, even though it was hated when it came out, it has a cult fandom that appreciate it for what it was.
- Gross-out sub-genre. If there is one thing I learned about kids and teenagers is that they enjoy gross out stuff, not just kids of today's generation, but kids of the 80s and 90s and even 2000s and 2010s and in general dig gross out humor because it appeals to them on their level, that's why there are lots of gross out games and toys and why in this generation there are toys themed around poop. I know my stuff isn't really for a family audience but that's the joke, Piff breaking the fourth wall to tell us that if you want smut you should go to places like Bluesky or Furaffinity or 'Prawnhub' as Piff calls it, the whole joke is Piff knows the humor is gross and not to everyone's but he doesn't care - he justl ikes doing that gag, and while others may hate shows like Ren and Stimpy and even some of seasons 6-8 of Spongebob Squarepants for particularly gross moments like The Splinter for example, there is a demographic that kind of humor appeals to and that's the young, young at heart and the extremely immature type that don't take themselves too seriously. Take it from me, I was and still am - an avid Nickelodeon fan including Spongebob and their Kids Choice Awards ceremony that they have everywhere in which celebrities and the audience get slimed, and like it or not, crass humor is their bread and butter. Yeah you have some people that go too far with it like Dan Schneider with his foot fetishism in his shows, but even with say Mr Meaty (a show I like that others hate), there are moments to appreciate.
- The Nutty Professor (1996). Rick Baker is one of my makeup inspirations and I hope to make monsters like him one day, and his work on BOTH Nutty Professor movies especially what he does to make Eddie Murphy not only look like an overweight character in a realistic way that doesn't feel offensive but also to make him look like various different members of his own family still holds up to this day.
- Austin Powers franchise especially the second and third ones. What was just applied to Eddie Murphy can also be applied to Mike Myers for this series because he plays multiple characters, and I definitely think the Fat Bastard character is one such example of good makeup effects because it's where you cannot tell it's Mike Myers in the costume (and yes, this is where you'll hear the Shrek accent too, because Mike has a knack for playing characters with different accents, especially Scottish),
- The works of Roald Dahl and David Walliams. As problematic as Dahl was as a person there's no denying he had a way of making sure his villainous characters were as grotesque as possible and that worked to his style of writing as well, as a writer myself I am not afraid to use words that would be considered taboo otherwise and not afraid to lampoon serious issues like rape, suicide, etc because media in general should not be cancelled just because some people find it problematic or find the author or actor or producer to be a horrible person, Dahl was also one such person. Because it doesn't matter what some people think of your work, if some people don't like it, that's their problem, not a problem with you. Having to censor something just because it's problematic and hasn't aged well is just a lame way to do it, I mean remember when Leaving Neverland came out and the producers of The Simpsons made sure that the episode 'Stark Raving Dad' you know the episode that guest starred Michael Jackson, would never be able to be shown again and you can't find it even on streaming? I do. And I was genuinely upset at that. You shouldn't have to censor or try to change the works of someone like Dr Seuss or Roald Dahl just because some of them are now controversial. And the same goes for David Walliams, yeah there are a lot of oddball, grossout and bizarre jokes in general but I don't let stuff like that bother me.
- 2000s comedy movies but my major inspiration would be Shallow Hal, like the Nutty Professor and of course Shrek and Beauty and the Beast, this movie's message is not judging people by appearances or by race or even species, which is what I never do, yeah there are African Americans and people of different races who can be horrible people but that's not a race problem that's a personality issue. Danielle is plus sized but she's not an idiot, yeah she switches between being goofy/silly and being highly cunning and intelligent, and she loves gross out humor, but that's just a trait her species in general does (they like gross out jokes) and she makes moo jokes and is obsessed with cows (but that's because it's her unique quirk, her body is naturally made for mothering a kid because it's a special kind of dum dum transformation that Dumius chose specifically for her, and getting glimpses of pregnancy is just part of it, she has never given birth at least not yet), but her personality and tendency to be a troublemaker is what make her a bad person (not her weight), Dumius himself does not see her as overweight or ugly, he just sees her as beautiful (even though he can be mean to Nathan for not accepting that he turns into her sometimes).
