Story:
Getting through the office was easier than October expected. Sure, he was inching towards the “freakishly tall” side of things, but people really cared way less than you’d think. Usually the last thing the tiger wanted was to be in the spotlight. Turning heads, existing in the center of attention. With every additional inch of height, that fear slowly dissipated… The biggest issue was his attire now, or the lack thereof. Barefoot, in underwear, only a dark brown jacket to at least protect himself from a public indecency complaint from HR.
Long legs ensured a quick pace moving through the white office hallways, he reached the elevators way faster than usual. “I could get used to this!”, he said to no one in particular, grinning.
*DING!*
The elevator arrived. In it, a female fox from the sales department, no larger than 5’7” or so. October ducked low and entered the confined space with a sly “Sorry!”. An odd atmosphere dwelled in the elevator, the large tiger taking in his surroundings as if it was his first day on planet earth, while the woman had to stoically accept the fact that there was a half naked guy taking up most of the already tight space.
They arrived on the ground floor. October squeezed himself through the opening, ducking low. He had enjoyed his vantage point over a full foot above the other passenger. Usually he’d let the other person exit first, but today he was in a hurry. The fact that it was suddenly so easy to just take up the space he wanted, was just a neat side effect. The saleswoman made it easy by just scurrying to the back of the elevator, gawking. He must’ve been one of the tallest men she has ever seen! She would spend the rest of the workday wondering who that stud was, not knowing that they had a few encounters in the building before. October was simply not someone worth remembering in an everyday setting. Average.
Now? Things changed. And he wasn’t done, not by a long shot.
The subway station was not far from the office building, situated right in the heart of downtown. The exposed tiger hastily walked towards the station, not wanting to draw too much attention now. But again, people really cared less than he expected. Sure, heads turned, some shot quick photos, but it was nothing too out of the ordinary. Crazy people were no rarity in the city, it was his height and stature that drew additional eyes towards himself. October simply wanted to get home now. This day was weird enough. He pulled out his phone to distract himself from peering stares. His boyfriend saw his message!
Robbin: “why are u not wearing ur clothes, thought you are at work”
October: “left early today, i’ll be home in 20. get ready”
Robbin: “what do you mean”
October: “bringing home extra boyfriend”
Robbin: “???”
Robbin: “whatever this game is it’s hot ngl”
October: “i’m for real”
Before he could wait for a response, the subway arrived. The tiger got tired of typing anyway on his phone, his fingers grew in length and width that disturbed his muscle memory. The tiger ducked low while entering the cart and tried to find a spot besides all the other passengers. It was a full ride, even more so when you take up extra space. October had to watch his head with all the railings being eye level with him, luckily he still had some inches above his head!
The imperative word being “still”.
