Turnteyl awakens alone in a make-shift tent of Camp Three, narrowly surviving the 'other kinn' and a savage chase through the midnight forests. Her wounds have been mysteriously dressed, and no one is around to answer her many questions. Hallucinating with fever, she tumbles to the sand from her cot, terrified of the long shadows painted across her tent.
