Aaron walked through the house, having no idea that anyone was on the floor. He stepped on Stratus, but did not feel anything, not even the slightest tingle, so he had absolutely no indication that he had stepped on something... or in this case, someone.
In an instant, Stratus found himself pressed down into the floor, his body squished under a big paw by the weight of the body above. He had no time to get out of the way. Fortunately, the pawpad was soft and thick, designed to cushion the paw, protecting it from any rough objects on the floor. Now, Stratus was one of those objects, reduced to a tiny speck of dust to be padded away. The pawpad deformed around him as it weighed down on him, causing him to sink into the pawpad. Stratus found himself being hugged from all sides by the soft surface as the pad spread itself out on the floor below. Stratus's back and limbs became completely level with the gray pad, making his body flush with the surface, becoming one with the paw.
A fraction of a second later, what felt like several seconds for Stratus, the paw lifted off the ground, and he stayed stuck to the pad. The paw swung forward, then landed on the floor again as part of the next step, keeping Stratus pressed deep into the pawpad. Any slight progress in the nano's body becoming unstuck from the pawpad became immediately reset each time the paw stomped onto the floor. This cycle repeated a hundred times or so, lifting the stuck Stratus, and then pressing back down into a new section of the floor each time.
Aaron continued to walk around the house, unaware of the sentient speck stuck to his paw. He went to the kitchen, got a snack, and then headed back to his room.
This artwork, and the text in the description, are part of a larger story featuring Aaron and Stratus, which will hopefully be released this year. I can give out sneak peeks if people want it (warning: NSFW).
