So, this illustration was based on a dream I had, which is still seared into my brain to this day.
In the dream, I was in a party with my closest friends in the house I spent my adolescence [for some reason that house keeps showing up in my dreams frequently. Plenty of unresolved issues, maybe?], but the house had on the back a small dock. My friends were enjoying themselves and then I looked at them and said:
"I must leave you guys now, there are places I need to be. But you can keep partying, just remember to close the windows before sleeping, okay?"
Some of my friends said they wouldn't keep partying, they would follow me wherever I would go, so we all climbed on the small boat at the dock and rowed. The boat had this head figure of a wolf snarling, like a "viking" thing. I was dressing just a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a grey trench coat. No shoes, no hat, no gloves. We rowed to this lake, surrounded by beautiful cliffs close to a fjord, under the light of the Aurora Borealis... Which is weird because I live in the Southern Hemisphere.
There, we docked at the pebble beach and hopped off the boat. One of my friends rubbed her hands and said:
"If I knew it would be so cold, I would have brought my gloves".
I looked at her and said that she didn't have to be there, but in a tone, like "hey, babe... I won't judge you if you decide to leave. It's tots fine", and she looked at me with a frown, like she was upset I even consider she could leave me. We marched up the hill towards a wooden temple, where monks received us and told me that my "trial" was ready. They opened big wooden doors, and we headed out, climbing the trail towards a forest, with me on the lead. I looked back many times to see if everyone was okay, and it's not like I knew exactly where to go, but something was calling me into the woods. I knew I was looking for a Wolf. A white wolf. My spirit animal, Mother. Into the deep woods I could see Her paw steps on the snow, as they shone with moonlight even thought there was no moon up in the sky.
T'was when we were in the deepest part of the woods, when I looked back again to see my friends, I saw that I was the one leaving paw prints for the others to follow. That I was the wolf. The Guide. The one who explores and leads the pack to safety.
This dream was extremely important to me as to know that I had a job to do with my friends: not that I had to be "the boss", but to help them find their trails and walk in safety, and if there was no trail available, to discover a brand new one, into the unknown. Mother has Her way to send messages and I miss Her very much. I really want to go back into meditating and connecting with Her. Life felt sweeter when I had a huge ass wolf on my back keeping me from being a coward. This illustration will probably get a "remake" because I wanna emphasize the pack this time, instead of just the place.
