But I've been trying to get into cel-shading, also known as comic book style, for six months now. I've been practicing it for a long time, and they've been showing me how to do it properly for a long time. I don't know if this is considered a "degradation of style," but I really like the simplification :)
The terminology is all well beyond me. Maybe it's your own style, I can't say I've seen something quite like this. I'm amazed at how smooth it is overall! Without sacrificing detail. That back lighting is so good it's hard to believe that was drawn. The gloss in the eyes give them so much depth they look real!
I have a appreciate those clouds, too. I studied sunset clouds a lot for a practice sketch I did, and these are really perfect.

Well, even if someone really doesn't believe this is drawn, I'm specifically posting the entire process on Patreon and Boosty. For the background, I usually use texture brushes and oil-effect brushes, and then blend with a blur or airbrush. Since I draw in SAI, I like to use highlighting with a lumi&shade layer effect
Oh, you post drawing videos on patreon? I have to get on your patreon someday, then. I like watching how the pros draw. I'm very far from ever having a digital device, but it makes me think about the process.
I don't understand all these things you're talking about using, but I'm going to read into it now.
Thanks for chatting! This stuff is interesting.
