Basic info:
Species name: Arbor sapiens
Basic Description: the predominant sentient, space faring species from the planet Orcona.
Sapient: Yes
Lifespan: 300 yrs
Home World: Orcona
Adoptive Home World: Earth
Current Locations: The living forest of Orcona, Or, Rona,Cultia, Oltan, Nowair, Agutho
Subspecies: Arbor Sapien Arctos, Arbor Sapien Tropicus
Culture: The Suma
Average Height: 6’0 - 7’0
Average Weight: 372 Ibs - 431 Ibs
Physical Description: Arbor sapiens are humanoid in appearance, resembling large human females. Because of their arboreal ancestry, their skin possesses wood grain-like patterns and can range from white to dark brown. As a result of cultural practices, most members of their species are overweight, with fat accumulating noticeably around their bodies, particularly in the abdomen, breasts, buttocks, and hips. They also typically wear loincloths that resemble the mawashi belts of earth around their lower halves. As humanoids, they walk upright on a set of thick, powerful legs, possessing four-toed feet. For increased stability, their toes are arranged differently than humans', with three facing forward and one backward. Proportioned similarly, their arms end in hands that possess the same five-fingered structure as humans. Despite their striking resemblance to humans, Arbor sapiens’ most notable features are their mouthless faces that posses forward-facing eyes, nostril slits, and a pair of antenna-like horns in place of ears. They also have vinesque structures that grow out from their heads and are covered in an assortment of colorful leaves or flowers that resemble hair, but are in fact a part of their digestive system that allows them to perform photosynthesis.
Origins: Arbor sapiens originate from the planet Orcona. As all life on the planet is plant based they evolved from trees or tree-like organisms. After achieving sentience they developed a complex society that would become space fairing later in their history.
Behavior: Being a sentient species, much of Arbor sapien behavior is dictated by social standards, along with their core values and beliefs. However, Arbor sapiens in general are extremely patient, kind, outgoing and cooperative. On the other hand they are also very adverse to change, serious conflict and are slow to act in rapidly changing situations that require quick thinking.
Unique Abilities
Fantastic strength: Because of their unique hydraulic-based muscular system, Arbor sapiens possess incredible physical strength, being capable of lifting and moving material that would take specialized equipment or several strong humans to move, such as bundles of logs, large boulders. This also makes their attacks dangerous to humans as they could easily shatter bone with a single blow.
Natural armor: With their hydraulic musculature, internal skeletal shell, and accumulation of subcutaneous fat, Arbor sapiens have an impressive natural defense, which grants them insane durability, being nearly immune from bludgeoning damage. Also, due to the flexibility of their skin and that it's composed of the same material as bark, this makes them resistant to cutting weapons and slashing damage, though they are susceptible to pierce weapons.
Enhanced stability: Resulting from the unique configuration of their feet, Arbor sapiens possess great stability, making it far more difficult to knock them over or push them back.
Metabolic Flexibility: Because of their ability to photosynthesize, absorb extra nutrients from their environment, and their ability to process most material with minimal waste, Arbor sapiens are extremely hardy and capable of surviving harsh environments.
Robust endurance/Stamina: Arbor sapiens have exceptional stamina and endurance due to their hydraulic musculature and efficient waste processing and their ability to near constantly replenish their energy levels; they can go for long periods without rest. Though this can be affected by the time of day and weather conditions.
Habitat
The Emerald sea: a verdant plain of green grass that stretches on for miles, dotted and bisected by a multitude of lakes and rivers. Surrounding these scattered waterways are thick, lush temperate forests. This is where the planet's sentient life, the Arbor sapiens—or Suma, as they call themselves—establish their settlements. This central region is also the birthplace of their civilization, housing the largest population of the primary species and serving as the origin point for the two subspecies.
