So I’ve posted journals about this months ago, but journals don’t get a whole lot of views so I’ll give you the brief rundown here.
Been trying to find ways to connect more directly and in-person with other furries in the Ottawa area (Ontario, Canada) for about a year now, but being there seem to be so few furmeets left and the ones that DO still exist according to a Google search only use Telegram (I don’t have a phone and never will; lots of reasons behind that I won’t get into here,) so it’s left me feeling kinda stuck. Like, it would be nice to have two or three other IRL friends in the furry community whom I can hang out with; watch movies at home, play games (mostly for recording Lets Plays like I already do with ThatWeirdCollector), filming skits in fursuit, go to conventions with like CanFURence (assuming that convention continues to be a thing, as of posting this they seem to be having issues trying to find a new venue), etc. The only socials I have are FurAffinity, Weasyl, SoFurry and YouTube (links above and below), plus my hotmail account that I won’t link here but I can provide via note/dm on any of the above-mentioned sites if asked.
Oh and I don’t drive and am a very late sleeper so anything I do get invited to needs to be accessible by public transit and preferably in the early-to-mid afternoon.

There is another local group that isn't the Carlingwood Mall group, that organizes activities via Discord. They strive for variety instead of sitting at the mall.
Discord is definitely hitting all the bad PR buttons right now, but it will survive and continue to grow, despite it's dumb choices

I just find live-chat platforms like Discord are really awkward for me. Like, talking to people through a webcam is somehow way more awkward to me than face-to-face (I've tried it before with Tinychat and Zoom,) and since I'm a two-finger-typer it's impossible for me to keep up with live text chats. It took me three minutes just to type this reply.
No phone does make it a little harder. But nothing is stopping you from just, showing up assuming you haven't been banned.
The furmeet run by Ottawa Furs is located in the Carling Wood Mall every Friday. Meets in the food court.
It's active between 6:30 PM and closing time. Bus access is... about as good as No See Transpo typically is for the location.
It really doesn't cancel often; The main reason would be the convention happening that week or something that closes the mall itself.
You're welcome to bring the fursuit head, but security would *much* prefer you only wear it outside in the parking lot.
I don't go often as my social battery is on the flimsy side, but it's nice when I do.

Yes I know about that one. I went once months ago, but as you said "No-See Transpo" makes it kinda inconvenient, particularly that late in the evening when the service hours change. It,d be a lot more convenient if it was a little earlier in the afternoon, especially since my mom and I go to Carlingwood every other Friday to walk around and get some exercise, but by 4:30 we're always spent.
And yeah the "no fursuit head wearing" thing. I get the reason...jewelry stores...but it makes it just that much more awkward for me to make introductions. The fursuit gives me confidence that I don't always have without it.

Like, I've thought up a few ideas for activities that could be fun if anyone was interested and venues-permitting. Like, a furry LARP tournament with Dollarama foam swords, or even a "Stuffy Rider" race.
