The enormous nightfury called Toothless was disoriented and confused by the strange surroundings. There wasn't a single trace of anything even remotely familiar or resembling home. He didn't even know how he had gotten there.
Ignorant of his surroundings, the context and situation were completely unknown to him.
Its enormous paws, tipped with massive black claws, mercilessly crashed against the fragile, soft ground of planet Earth, and the millions of humans it encountered were crushed like mere, miserable creatures, unnoticed for the insignificance they truly were. With the earth cracking so easily and trembling beneath the weight of Toothless enormous gigantic size that continued its advance, there seemed to be no escape.
Only a handful of military forces dared to take charge of this truly gigantic undertaking. High command, without hesitation, authorized the mass launch of highly destructive weaponry. Each missile struck the Nightfury thick, dark scales, but none were effective. So useless, in fact, that even Toothless seemed oblivious to the missiles, which looked more like tiny mosquitoes than anything else. Soon, some of the military bases launching these ballistic missiles were swallowed by Toothless's claws and pulverized into utter, eternal oblivion.
Meanwhile, millions of humans, all in a state of panic and utter terror, screaming and crying in fear of certain death as everything went dark and they looked up to see a black mass descending toward them, continued to vanish as if nothing were amiss beneath each thunderous step of the dragon-like giant, effortlessly wiping out lives and entire cities decades or centuries old. It was simply a matter of lowering its paws to destroy everything in its path without even realizing the genocide it was unleashing at ground level.
But Toothless, larger than any mountain on the planet and towering higher than any cloud, couldn't possibly know anything he'd caused, even unintentionally, because of the overwhelming difference in size. To him, everything seemed little more than a strange carpet, a mosaic of greens, blues, and browns with a touch of gray, all without any apparent meaning.
He just kept moving forward, looking for some way to get out of that place and back home.
