Following a period another 125 years after Hildr's ascension and the reign of worthy kings, the relative peace across Uhrwecht began to wane. As the cultural memory of war and strife and collective identity began to fracture, the peoples moved from feudalistic systems back into druidic groups and clans, carving out pastoral lives and small communities that sought their own identities and traced their roots back through ancestral sagas. The dwindling central government and nostalgic lust for familial groups turned the era’s intellectual pursuits inward and, combined with a fondness for the wilderness, started to entangle the natural world and religion. These unique stories and arts about the gods led to the practices of enchanting and rune scribing and became the ultimate precursor to Uhrwecht's modern language.
Gunnr's role as a warrior, before she got her wings, was part of these new religious rituals that forced her into competitive clan roles, and despite her studious nature the virute of her birth as a high clan daughter required, at first, her participation in battle reenactments within her community, and then to challenge rival clans. Though competent in her skill, she lacked the makings of a seasoned crusader and fell early in the campaigns, one of the first victims of a renewed battle that the peace of Uhrwecht had forgotten. The judicious gaze of the Allfather, as it serves the other maidens, hoist Gunnr with wings to fulfill a better purpose.
As a Valkyrie, Gunnr takes on the role of an enchantress, crafting and modifying spells and weapons and inscribing runes and symbols into artifacts to imbue them with power or purpose. She also divines relics and other historical items and serves as the keeper of the Valiant reliquary which houses storied weapons and meaningful items from ages current and long past. Weilding daggers and casting spells, Gunnr wears the wild green of the fields and forests with the more static, neo-religious symbols of clan identities stitched into her attire. When breaching the realms to shepherd fallen souls she almost exclusively appears to battle maidens, including future Valkyries, bringing tender light and special favor to the women who face the challenge of their male counterparts in war. Personally, she’s incredibly soft-spoken and inward, generally opening up only to her sisters and otherwise fatigued by a persistent and terrible social anxiety. Still, she’s good at what she does and will strike down foes with the same might as any Valkyrie, even if it behooves her to apologize beforehand.
(...and her favorite berries are cloudberries!)

Ah yeah, I do this for the Valkyries specifically since they kinda exist in their own realm and didn't all come into being at once, gives a chance to characterize the ladies themselves but more specifically identify elements of their design which is adopted from the time period they came from. This is important for an alternate set of images I have of them where, instead of their match scarf + skirt outfits, they're wearing their hairstyles and clothing/armor based on the culture and time they originally come from. Thank you for stopping by to read it means a lot to me <3
