So, after binge playing STALKER 2, both vanilla (without my knowing) and modded, I just had to get one of these lil guys! Those who know me will know that this is the second Elstiq OC I have. Only other reason why I haven't posted the first is because...Well, I'm lazy and tend to play far too many video games to really get to doing it. Plus, sim racing has been my life recently, so go figure. XD
Anywhozle! Maz is a hazmat elstiq who has a certain love for helping others in areas that require them to be protected, hence his hazardous environment appearance to his body. Don't worry, he's not going to do anything gross to the wearer (trust me, this guy's quite different than that, though more on that later). Typical of many other elstiqs, he features quite a large number of core functions of many elstiqs, but with a few added features that are unique to him! For one thing, keen eyed viewers would notice his gas mask-like appearance to his face! While he is capable of doing things autonomously as requested, his primary purpose is to be 'Personal Protective Equipment' (PPE). Filters are a part of his muzzle, allowing his wearers to have fresh air filtered through his muzzle as the wearer breathes. Nanites infused in the filters ensure there's a constant filtration of the air that the wearer breathes at all times, enabling a near limitless amount of air in even the most hostile environments! Note: This DOES NOT include in space, though there are limited applications for such things that can be tested with his body. Maz also features some atmospheric sensors embedded in his muzzle that get projected onto his lenses that are his eyes for the wearer to see. Such information can include (but not limited to) atmospheric composition, toxicity levels to the wearer, amount of breathable atmosphere and plenty more!
His nanite structure on the outside is beefed up to handle any sorts of hazardous materials and environments! Thermal protective, chemically treated and repellent, grounded and air-tight, he's designed to be used in just about any type of imaginable environment and impact, with the added bonus that his 'zipper' seals up to make everything air-tight! Even his 'mouth' has a sealed backing with a special kind of pass-through nanite structure that allows his wearer to speak just fine without any compromise to the wearer's safety! This same pass-through technology is featured in the ears for improved hearing for the wearer, though this can be altered by Maz on a moment's notice as a sort of 'ear-pro', ensuring the wearer doesn't deal with any sort of hearing damages of any sort! Best part is, thanks to how elastiq nanites work, it does mean he can fit to any wearer! Big, small, wide, thin, you name it, he can fit it!
Maz's interior is able to support his wearer to ensure injury can be avoided where possible! Featuring a brand-new inflatable nanite interior, it means he's always a perfect fit for any wearer, while also being able to use it to help protect his wearer, by rapidly expanding to absorb impacts. Such actions make his entire shape look really puffy for a few moments, but this enables him the ability to keep his wearers protected from most heavy impacts without fear of having any injury applied to the wearer itself. The black parts of his body are a denser nanite composition designed to work in lieu of steel toe or chain mail applications, granting similar protection levels where possible to the wearer while still retaining the same stretchy capabilities elstiqs are known for, though as a fallback, Maz has the inflatable nanite lining to protect his wearer from any 'toe-capitation'.
Now, granted, while he might seem like a tough cookie, there are a few things to note about weaknesses to him. For one thing, his exterior is designed even to take a direct lighting strike, allowing him to remain grounded where possible by being in contact with the ground itself. However, his interior nanites are not designed for prolonged or high-voltage currents such as lightning strikes. And hidden inside his interior lining is his nanite core. This core is highly susceptible to short circuiting but is not without its redundancies. If one of these cores is short circuited, it will render Maz into a 'malstiq' temporarily where he will have zero care for the wearer in question. At this point, it'll vary based on his mood. In some cases, he may never let the wearer out again, in which case, the wearer will have to wait until the self-repair cycle of the core is finished before Maz will become reasonable again. How long this takes varies from the level of damage. Other times, he'll just eject the wearer right where he is and go on his normal way. At that point, he's no better than any other malstiq. And other times still, if the wearer is particularly bad to him, he may get a bit...Violent. We'll just leave it at that.
Over all, I love how this guy turned out!
Fweeblies did such an amazing job with Maz! I swear, I never get tired working with her!
