I had the thought to make this before I color my next reference. This will guide you on how to draw Creature's lower leg pattern from the front, when you have no visual reference.
Every color and pattern on Creature's body is tied to a body line, or underlying anatomy. By explaining the body lines that the lower leg pattern uses, you can draw a complicated pattern from any position or angle.
In order to visualize the pattern items behind the leg that are not visible in this image, please use the legs reference.
You will need to locate 3 positions on the lower leg.
1 - Where the muscle mass is the thickest, roughly the center of this segment of the leg.
2 - Joint, between leg segments.
3 - Joint, between leg and paw.
Wrapping Grey Fur
The grey fur begins at the tip of the red fur on the side/back of the leg, on the (1) axis. The grey fur wraps evenly from there, around to the (2) point at the joint. At, or just beneath the joint at (2), the grey fur has wrapped completely to the front, with the black fur beginning a stripe.
Stripe Length
The black stripe on the front of the lower leg begins at roughly the (2) point. Note that it travels just beneath the (3) point onto the paw, but does not reach the toes. It either rounds off or sharply tapers to a point.
Spots
Within the range of (4) there are 6 inner spots. The highest is on or just beneath the joint at (2). The lowest is just above the joint at (3). They are evenly spaced. The outer spots begin one half space up, and one half space away from the lowest inner spot. They are also evenly spaced.
Use the right leg in the legs reference for an exact spot count and position.
I hope this can make things easier, not harder, when drawing an exact representation of Creature's lower leg pattern.
