Butterfly - Citrine wing
Gonepteryx rhamni is a species of butterfly widespread in Eurasia. Its common names include ‘common brimstone’ in English, but translations into other European languages such as French, Dutch and German give it the name ‘Lemon’.
This name ‘lemon’ resonates particularly well with fragments of citrine, a variety of quartz with a yellow colouring due to the presence of tiny amounts of iron oxides in the mineral. This stone is relatively common, but it is when the fragment of fine stone is shaped like a butterfly wing or leaf that it is most likely to contain the essence of Gonepteryx rhamni.
A normal citrine, even in large blocks, will only produce a partial, perhaps anthropomorphic, transformation of the subject who comes into prolonged contact with the stone. On the other hand, samples in the shape of a leaf or butterfly wing can grow into a feral form, life-size, of a butterfly of this species.
Nevertheless, no tests carried out to date have succeeded in eradicating human consciousness. The effect also appears to be semi-permanent, disappearing with the use of another alchemical ingredient.
This suggests that the essence of this butterfly is non-invasive and peaceful...

I would first have to explain humanity to you, and I don't know if that's something I can teach you to understand, and everyone has their own personal definition of what it means and yet we can all agree that it means something that we whole innately understand to some degree.
I find it adorable because I think it's cool in a way that I find visually appealing, but in the same breath something people find adorable like the Koala, I find to be overrated and ugly.

Interesting to see a change that doesn't alter human consciousness, and rather, makes it difficult to do so. I feel like the origin of the essence itself is closely related to humans and could possibly sprout from them as well, perhaps once the transformation is complete and they follow their new bodily needs
