Ahh, what an adorable and touching moment we’re seeing right now. Huh? You all seem confused for some reason. Not sure what’s wro- Oh! Right, I haven’t gone over this relationship yet. Let me explain…
I know this is the first time I’ve shown them interacting, but Toshi and Chikako have known each other for at least a short while. Otto and Liz introduced her to Mike and Toshi, and the two got to chatting. They found out about the similarities they have:
They both were the products of a loving marriage between a human and a yokai
They both grew up being hated by both humans and yokai alike
They both lost those close to them and spent time alone before meeting their new friends
They both have elemental powers
And they’re both old, haha
With all these in mind, the two couldn’t help but start to feel a connection… but not a romantic one. They began to see each other as a possibility, a potential What-If?, maybe even… a sibling. As a result, the two casually refer to each other as Big Sister and Little Brother, both in English and Japanese. And like many siblings, they help each other relax, unwind, open up with their feelings… and occasionally tease and annoy each other for harmless laughs.
After all, what’s family for?
Chikako: “You’re such an adorable little brother, Toshi-kun. And so fun to tease~”
Toshi: “Is that so, Chikako-chan? Well then, I’m sure you won’t mind if I return the favor.” He uses his tail to tickle her feet while his fingers tickle her belly.
Chikako: “Wait, what are you-? AHAHAHA! Oh, you little-! Bring it on!”
