The Sapient Circle (originally titled In Memoriam Genera) is a short story which explores the history of a setting with many intelligent anthropomorphic species, explores the manner in which such a setting might come about, and the inevitable conflicts which would result. I drew on several scientific and sci-fi ideas in writing it. It follows several point-of-view characters over a large timescale, each with their own stories or vignettes, and touches on a number of serious themes, including death, extinction, etc. I intentionally tried to draw upon a number of species for inspiration which are not commonly seen in the furry fandom. Much of the art previously posted here was drawn while working on this story and is inspired by it.
