I have two theories what caused the Fall of the Monkey Clan

"Monkeys hammering a bomb" or as I like to call it "The Brotherhood Of Steel was right on technology falling into the wrong hands" theory: Basically some monkey made some device, which turned out to be a weapon. They tested it and caused the fire that the brought the Monkey Clan's downfall. Perhaps they made a weapon for the Dog Clan or someone outside of the city.

Sabotage Theory: Someone in or out of the clans wanted the Monkeys out the equation for some personal benefit. If someone within the clans, obviously the Snake Clan did it that caused the fire

The rabbit clan is canonically connected to the incident, according to this picture, we need to also think what did Luzhius had made to contribute to that disaster for such punishment.
