Modern setting thought experiment
I love how this came out. The artist was doing a thing where you gave them a direction or concept and they interpreted it. My basic premise was, "what would a contemporary, realistic setting be like for my dragon taur character?" What would it be like for, "me" to ride on a subway car, or otherwise function and go about daily life in an efficient and unobtrusive manner.
The clothing concept was assuming that not all parts of Furry World^TM are clothing optional. What clothing would organically make sense for this body shape? What needs would their be? Assuming that in some parts of fantasy furry land you couldn't strut around flashing your hole at whoever was behind you on a line, he is wearing a jock-strap like set of underwear over his private parts, a sock over his tail, and open sandals over his paws which make sure to cover the back of the legs. I didn't want a, "haha pants on a horse" sort of thing with the clothing. The clothing is intended to fit his body and protect the parts most likely to come into contact with the ground; while also being able to be adjusted or removed with a minimal amount of contortion. If he was sitting on his haunches or laying like a loafing cat while waiting for a bus, the bottom of his tail, back of his hind legs, paws, and maybe major chest would be in contact with the ground, and most in need of protection. There are buckles on his jocks to aid with removal, so using a public restroom wouldn't be an ordeal. His major torso is supposed to be wearing an oversized merino wool Irish style sweater, and his minor torso a leather jacket. I like natural materials.
I imagine like bike racks or handicap spots there might be spots for large breeds, taurs, or sentient ferals. I imagine hoping you caught the right train or waiting for an elevator, or trying to keep your tail tucked out of the way would be part of those petty problems of daily life for a quadruped. Someone asked why he is partially sitting on the seat. The floor is nasty and four legs wouldn't absolve you from fatigue.
I think the artist nails taurs. The ratios of the body parts and the musculature has to be right to make them look like an organic beast and not a paper doll. The perspective of the train car to make a dynamic triangle and the use of the curves of his back and tail to draw your eye around the frame was very clever.
