I love this so much that it inspired me to make one of those obnoxious Linkedin posts for her.
🏆Leadership Means Leaning Into the Pivot🏆
When Operations Group 2C fumbled the Ellery file, I had a choice: entertain "quiet quitting" and protect comfort, or internalize inefficiencies to optimize the system.
I chose optimization.
After reviewing their performance metrics, it became clear that 2,136 employees were underperforming and no longer aligned with our strategy. Rather than perpetuate inefficiency within our operational framework, I saw an opportunity to internalize inefficiencies and metabolize them into scalable executive energy. So yes — I ate the problem for lunch.
When you are proactive about downsizing, you don’t just reduce drag — you unlock liquidity. By realigning their human capital into the consumption model of a high-functioning executive core (me), we streamlined our payroll and saved on lunch expenses. A true win-win for the shareholders.
Leadership isn’t about sentimentality — it’s about value creation. If you allow chronic underperformance to linger, you’re not fostering empowerment; you’re subsidizing mediocrity. Sometimes leadership means clearing the table so the right players can eat.
Never let sentiment override shareholder value. If you’re not willing to convert underperformance into executive acceleration, are you even leading?
This wasn’t downsizing. It was value consolidation.
This wasn’t harsh. It was optimized.
This wasn’t personal. It was just lunch.
And I’m grateful to share that our CEO recognized this executional excellence with a performance bonus — structured from the fully reallocated salary, retirement, and life insurance packages of the 2,136 contributors I transitioned out.
Stay empowered. Stay unbothered. Stay hungry.
