The game this comes from is apparently not very good, but Mitsuda dropping a classic track on a mid JRPG is par for the course. The vocalist pack used in this song is also in Courage the Cowardly Dog and Freespace 2, and is a good sort of haunting "things are happening beyond you" sort of chorus.

The "bullets move when you get close" battle is one I pondered years ago, as a sort of top-down ARPG fight. In the original idea, you could shoot and they could shoot, but the bullets would slow to a stop outside a radius on you and the boss. A gentle dance where you try to bring your bullets towards the enemy while avoiding his becoming active. It would be neat to see in an actual game.

Life continues, even as the news is terrible. Stupid people who never should have had power doing stupid things while everyone else faces the consequences.
Mental health is holding, though getting on HRT should help. We'll see if that doctor is taking new patients.
I think a lot of Perchance to Wake came from the idea of thinking about "what if the sealed evil in a can was just a little guy?" What that would do to a person, what they would become through isolation with brief glimpses of a world beyond their ken.
He needs a hug, at least. And a burrito. Not at the same time though, you will make a mess.
