M.V Codex Entry:
Lockthorp SA-MT-97F 'Wombat' VTOL
"Sometime when establishing support on less developed colonies, we have to rely on stuffing SL Containers into our basic transport VTOLs... not what they were designed originally to do, but it works out" ~CSM T. Acres, UEG Expeditionary Fleet 36.
Lockthorp, a conglomerate comprised of several organizations from the 20th and 21st centuries, has made quite a name for themselves in the realm of VTOL craft. For both Military and Civilian markets, their famed SA-MT-97 'Wombat' model has been a firm staple of the industry as a whole for almost 300 years. Starting with a propeller driven predecessor in the mid-2040s, the Wombat was first field tested and operated in the year 2097 for within Atmospheric use.
Later models would allow for enclosed internal bays, systems, blast shielding for exit/reentry of the atmosphere, and even artificial gravity generators. From troop carrying to light logistical work, this platform has seen use in all sectors, performing all tasks, for any purpose needed. Due to its adaptability, durability, and relatively low maintenance cost, the Wombat is still produced after all of this time, by a few licensed manufacturers, alongside several other VTOL model siblings.
