He's currently being charged by 4 enemies and knows Mira's winded from using the Lifeflame Nova (that sounds like a decent anime attack name, right?). He's doing his best to protect her.

Besides, I fully expect his axe to come flying in, lopping off this monster's head before it can reach Mira.

Something that occurred to me after seeing what Mira’s Flame of Life can do to anything corrupted by Chaos, and that she could do in this case, or in future cases, is to find an opportunity to use such magical ability when a hand-to-hand combat situation against an opponent, or more than one in the worst-case scenario, arises.
For example, when she’s throwing punches, kicks or grapples, she could cover her hands, feet or her entire body with a minimal concentrated amount of that flame while doing so, as a way to compensate many of the disadvantages she might have in terms of physical strength against opponents like these; that's something interesting that would be worth to see, at least from my perspective, of course.
In any case, I must say this is a pretty interesting and intense page either way; I’m already looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

I'm not entirely sure that would work.
While it doesn't destroy uncorrupted flesh the way normal fire does, the flams of life still have to have fuel to burn, otherwise they die out immediately. Her mana pool so far doesn't seem to be able to sustain a green flame for very long at all, and for it to be strong enough to burn away greater corrupted monsters, she has to commit to casting from HP.

First, the techniques I mentioned in my first comment were intended to be used only on those corrupted by Chaos; not on those who aren’t. Obviously, techniques like the ones I described earlier would never be effective against normal people or beast, i.e., uncorrupted creatures.
And second, the use of such techniques was to avoid what you mentioned at the end: the excessive use of her vital energy. Basically, Mira wouldn’t need to expend much of her vital energy when using the Flame of Life, since concentrating part of it on specific parts of her body, i.e., on small areas, would make dealing with creatures of Chaos less problematic overall.
