I had my doubts about whether or not to share this piece, given that it's mostly a sketch with some color, something that isn't technically finished yet.
I've been wanting to create another new species to share with the furry fandom for a while now, one that would also be an element of the lore for my NV thing. Speaking of lore, you know the part where Lloyd and his former comrades are/were in the military, and their leader, Mars, is an astronaut and formerly a diplomat? Well, this species is more or less for that. They're the aliens Mars is in conflict with. It's not a very widespread part of NV's lore and is more of a secondary element, but I wanted to flesh it out a bit. Almost from the beginning, I thought about making these aliens, but at first, I couldn't decide on their appearance. "Anthropomorphic insects like in other media? Well, yes, I didn't want them to be furry or humanoid, but how? Beetles, wait, aren't they very similar to the ones in Hollow Knight? I could take a little inspiration from Hollow Knight, what does it matter? But they're just common anthropomorphic insects, anyone can do that... But, what if I give them a screen face like Protogens? It's definitely not my most original idea, but at least so far I haven't seen screen-faced aliens that are insect-like, I can use that." And the rest I just figured out as I drew this lol.
So, I wouldn't say this is the final official version of this species since it's still in development, and I want to let this idea mature a bit before deciding what to change or not. But at the same time, I'm really liking how they look now, and I can't/couldn't help but already create some characters of this species and around the lore of Lloyd and Mars.
So, along the same lines, I think everyone else is free to create a character using the current concept, BUT, I'm still not sure if I'll keep changing it much. If I do, I'll post a new concept here. If it changes a lot, you don't necessarily have to change your character much if you don't want to (this is very optional). In any case, I plan to make a masterlist simply to keep track of each individual that makes up the species. It's still an open concept, but each one has a number. I haven't decided on a name yet, but I'm open to suggestions too ^^
