Ah well. OOP:Special Edition.
Meanwhile Isher is going to be forced to eat the bugs out of politeness, because her body doesn't reward her with a ton of endorphins for the activity.
Or is she just expecting to not like the food served.
Any species that can regenerate wounds like she did I could see having some sort of 'transformation trigger'. And I just think that would be awesome and/or funny.
And I hope our best boy Kalgkur will actually have a great time having no problem with any of the food in the slightest.
(Unless we're about to find out that she's highly disgusted by shellfish and pukes on Narklet, but that would be too fun.)
Although, I wouldn't be surprised if Baxxid are actually fine with clams and snails. It could go either way; the nuances of defining "meat" are notoriously difficult for historical translators, the meat shown in that scene was conspicuously vertebrate, and I still have some suspicions about Kal's wound being red instead of blue (as well as the nature of Isher's regenerative abilities). But since Isher may not know any more than we do about this, and the House of Ghellik is the only one that eats slimemeats (Page #59), there might be a concern about sudden cannibalistic implications here. It just stands out to me 'cause I was immediately like "dammit it's been so long since I've eaten an invertebrate and now I want one of those juicy tender morsels but it's wrong."
Fortunately, the Yinglets have a kosher option: a locally-grown delicacy that seems similar to lotus root (Page #113). For a diplomatic dinner, I'm certain Poak will want to highlite such a potential export. Maybe this is how Isher will meet future gardening buddy Chakki!
Also OMG I just realized the parallel between He-Who-Knows-What-He-Did's critique (Page #273) of the Baxxid Elders' plan (#277) for harmony and Narklet's (#119) critique of Vizlet's plan (#26) to import knowledge. There's even parallel phrasing, Vizlet saying Yinglets need to "catch up" to humans and He-Who-Knows-What-He-Did calling human culture "a phenomenon we can never catch." And both talk about their races having some sort of higher purpose.
When politics comes up at the dinner table, Kal is gonna have some things to say.
