Xan the dragon continues his training under Korra to master the power of dragons.
"Korra, I think this weighs way more than a ton."
"Don't talk nonsense! All you have to do is lift this damn car! It doesn't even weigh a ton!"

Yes. But she is quite harsh toward him. At the same time, however, she genuinely wants to make him as strong as possible. She takes advantage of the fact that this dragon is blind; she deliberately downplays his strength to make his training sessions easier. He will discover his true power later—when he needs to save himself.

So it would have been better for him to train alone?

OP
Korra is not a trainer. But Xan senses that she is a dragon—and a very powerful one at that. I tried to talk him out of it, but he assured me that Korra was exactly the person he needed. If Xan had trained alone, he would have gone easy on himself. And those who go easy on themselves never reach great heights. Yes, she can be brutal with him, but the results speak for themselves. Before training with Korra, Xan couldn't lift more than 140 kilograms. Now, he lifts 4.5 tons. Though, truth be told, he doesn't know that. ))))))
