My entry for the 2012 Anthro Calendar~ :D The mythical animal that I chose was the tanuki of Japanese folklore—
"The legendary tanuki is reputed to be mischievous and jolly, a master of disguise and shapeshifting, but somewhat gullible and absent-minded." —Wikipedia
They're a really interesting bunch, and the Japanese have some equally interesting ways of portraying certain parts of their anatomy (which I chose to omit for obvious reasons, LOL).
For those interested in purchasing a copy of the calendar, pre-orders are now open, and there's an early-bird discount until the 30th ($20 + $2.50/8.00 shipping depending on if you're an Australian resident or International). At the very least, be sure to check out the other artists' entries (the above link should have everyone's gallery)! ;D

I adore the light-hearted atmosphere of the scenery, the detailing and composition is awesome, too.
I wonder aboput the expression of the guiy with the hat. does he have to pay the bill for the fruits and dumplings? does he fear missing a business appointment? or do they make jokes on his expense? everything is possible with tanuki. :)

This is lovely and so much fun! Silly tanukis! Let's see, fresh fish, peaches, soba, a huge barrel of rice (I assume) and sake. All the makings of a fine party! The expressions are so good, they're smile-inducing. What's with the the string of mushrooms hanging from the umbrella? Just for fun or is it a reference to a particular fable about tanukis? I've always liked the one where a tanuki disguises itself as a tea kettle in a monastery. Zany, madcap humor ensues! Any chance that you might offer this as a poster or print, on its' own?
Oh wow this is beautiful! I love all the details and the color is amazing! Seriously I just want to dive into that background so badly with it's cute swirly mist and the characters are so huggable! Sweet job with the patters and textures too, especially the pattern on the one with its back to us~ But damn this is really, really nice.
